Broken B2 - Together

Chapter 2

Kenric's POV

Was this stupid? Yes. Is it going to be worth it for the ripplefluffs? Probably not. We don't even know where he is, plus, if we left, mom would be even more worried. And if we told her we were leaving, she'd get scared.

"So here's the plan," Calla always thought she was a know-it-all. We walked into the kitchen when I noticed a pink slip on the table. "We're gonna-"

"What's this?" I asked myself before picking it up. I studied the letters on the note.

"What's what?" Calla peered over my shoulder. "Whoa, what does it say?"

"I dunno, I can't read ancient runes."

"Right." My sister traced her finger across the swirly letters. "I need a paper and pencil," she ordered.

I dragged my legs all the way across the kitchen and back. "Here." I handed the items to her.

I sat there for the next 15 minutes watching Calla attempt to decipher the letters.

"Done." She shoved the piece of paper she was writing on in front of me. I read what she translated.

I have him at Lascaux. You have... 2 minutes to get here. Don't worry, by the time you come, he'll be dead.

I studied the paper. "Are you sure that's what it said?"

"I'm sure. Mom has been teaching me."

"Well, should we go?" I was skeptical about this note.

"Of course! We just got a lead! Let's just hope the last part isn't true."

"That cave is in the Forbidden Cities. We don't have a blue crystal!"

"We don't, but dad does. He's an emissary! It's probably in his office." We ran up the winding stairs and into daddy's office, which resembled Grandpa Alden's office. We searched for a while, turning daddy's office upside down.

"I found it!" Hidden in a box was a gleaming cobalt blue crystal.

"Are you ready?" My sister asked nervously.

"Ready as I'll ever be," I replied.

"On three. Then we go."

"Together."

A/N I know, it's cheesy to use the word "Together" As the last word, but I couldn't help myself!
