"If you keep playing the guitar, it will start hurting your fingers," Chris said as he took a sip from his cup.

"Really?" Alex replied as he kept strumming the guitar. It's been a week since he met Chris and starting playing the guitar.

Ever since he learned to play, he just couldn't learn to leave it alone. He felt a connection towards the guitar and felt relax when his fingers would strum smoothly over it.

"It's bound to happen anyway. The reason beginners stop playing the guitar for weeks is because of the pain. They can't get to each chord without feeling pain." Chris sat on his bed and turned on the TV.

"So it will affect my learning?" Alex was starting to get concerned.

"No, you just have to not play it every day, Alex," Chris looked at him and chuckled. "But don't worry. Overtime callouses will build up on the fingers of your fretting hand that will reduce the pain pushing down the strings for long periods."

Alex sighed in relief, he was glad that wouldn't affect his guitar skills but he will still have to deal with the finger pain. It will hardly be anything painful, he has experienced the worst things in his life.

He took Chris's advice and placed the guitar in the case. "I thought you were in Shelly lares band," Alex called out all of a sudden.

"Was"

"Wait, what?"

"I was in the band but I decided to leave. It didn't fit the fact that I've had some issues with the lead singer." Chris replied.

"That's strange. Chris stayed with the band till 1989, something has changed." Alex thought. He hoped his arrival didn't change anything in this era.

"Wait... How do you even know I was in Shelly Lares's band?" Chris was surprised that Alex knew he was in that band, he never told him that.

"Oh, uh...You talk in your sleep." Alex lied.

"That explains a lot."

"That was a close one." Alex sighed.

"Anyways, how was the talk with your father?" Alex asked, and hoping to change the subject.

Chris smiled fell when the mention of his father came. Alex noticed the change in his face.

"What's wrong? It didn't go well, right?" He sat upon his bed and stared at Chris.

Alex remembered when Chris called his father yesterday after they came back from the store. He didn't hear all of it but he could tell he argued with his father.

"The talk was great... But." Chris seemed like he didn't want to continue the conversation.

"You tell me anything, man, you know I won't say anything," Alex assured him.

"We started great in our talk but then it went downside after he started to complain about why I left," Chris sighed. "It went even worst after what he announced."

Alex waited patiently for him to finish. "What did he announced?"

"He's going to marry another woman," Chris replied. He was against it for his father to be with another woman other than his mother.

"My parents divorced when I was 4 years old, it was hard when I found out." Chris continued, he frowned when he recalled the moment that his father left.
