It never crossed Alex's mind that he will one day be in a band, much less a guitarist for Selena Y Los Dinos.

He always thought that he would pursue a different path to whatever he wanted to be forever. But being a guitarist was something he never imagined would happen to him.

When he first began to play guitar, he only thought of it as more of an 'I can play guitar' type of thinking. He never intended to join a band.

The first time Alex played in front of a crowd was when he first turned sixteen years old, two years ago since he's eighteen now.

Before he even imagined that he would be with Selena Y Los Dinos. Alex actually joined a different band with Chris a long time ago.

Chris persuaded Alex to join a band, although, Alex was reluctant about joining. But, in the end, he agreed to join since he wanted to know the feeling of playing guitar in front of dozens of people.

When Chris wanted Alex to join the band he was in, he began to wonder what band he was talking about. Until it crossed his mind that it was none other than Shelly Lares's band.

Shelly Lares was another successful Tejano singer, she was also one of the few female Tejano singers during this time.

Tony Lares, who was the cousin of Shelly Lares convinced Chris to join his cousin's band.

Chris wasn't a huge fan of Tejano music, it was a mix of traditional Mexican folk songs and country. Although it was childhood music for both of them, Chris still hated it.

Chris wanted to object to joining the bad. But, he knew he couldn't, his dreams of going to Los Angeles and creating a rock band were detained since he didn't have the money for it.

He was doing random jobs with Alex during that time and the pay was good, but it wasn't really big paychecks that would get him a one-way ticket to his dreams.

Tony convinced both of them that they would get good money from playing in gigs.

Alex wasn't even worried about the money since he had a great friend – in his pocket – that provided him with loads of money.

He could have given the necessary money to Chris so he can create his band, but it will affect the timeline here.

So, instead, they both agreed to join Shelly Lares. Much to the dislike of Chris who wanted to play rock, not some Tejano music.

Alex and Chris would have rather been in a band that had heavy metal rock music in it or that it was at least similar to Mötley Crüe or Def Leppard.

Alex was surprised when Shelly first told them to listen to Selena Y Los Dinos.

Chris didn't know who they were at first, but Alex instantly had his eyes widened when Shelly suggested they listened to her album.

"She was nominated for the 1988 Tejano female vocalist of the year," Shelly told them. "Listened to her music. We can cover a few of her songs."

"I don't mind," Tony said. He praised Selena Y Los Dinos since they were heading to become a recognizable band in Texas.

"They're pretty cool looking," Chris said.

Shelly nodded before looking at Alex. "What about you, Alex? You wanna hear a couple of their songs?"

"Sure," Alex quickly responded, he was pretty confused why Shelly would want to cover their songs.
