Chapter 48

"P'Cop!" Sandee was excitedly coming out from his room while screaming Copter's name when he was stopped in his track by Plum who was put his pointing his finger on his pointing mouth, signaling the kid to be quiet while closing the door behind him when Copter and Bas were sleeping cuddling each other. "Why?" with his whispered tone, Sandee was asking Plum.

"P'Cop had just gone to sleep. Don't disturb him. Let's have some breakfast. We have new people in the house today. You didn't even realize you were sleeping with granny last night do you?" With his whispered tone, Plum was pushing Sandee to the dining area. Hearing 'granny' and 'sleeping together', Sandee was agape to that. He just woke up, and he was alone as usual in the room, of course, he never realized it.

Reaching the dining area, he could see an old woman he never saw who was busy setting up the table and putting foods on the table. When she turned to him, the woman was giving him a big wise nice smile, making him smiling too.

"Your name is Sandee, right? Plum and Peraya told me about you. Call me granny, and boy, you have to play with me today. Don't bother P'Cop, today he needs to rest." Sandee was nodding his head too fast, excited to see someone new and nice. He likes the vibe. He never has a granny and this woman makes him feel like how a granny should be, and of course, he was excited.

Morning came, and Mew didn't even remember how he ended up in his home, and now with a headache. His phone was ringing non-stop. With a wince, he took his phone on the bedside table and pick it up, without even seeing the caller ID. "Hello?" With his groggy voice, he answered the phone.

"P! We have a big problem! Come to the house P! Hurry!" Hearing the problem, Mew was sprint up automatically and heading to the bathroom to wash his face before storming out of the house, despite having the headache still.

In ten minutes, he has already arrived at the house when he saw his men were gathering at the lobby, with faces that showed 'big problem'. Park his motorcycle, he runs to them when the guy named Sarawut came to him.

"What happened?" Mew asked right away. "We lost the old woman. There was a thief who came last night, and they were busy finding the thief that they got distracted. No one even realized the old woman was gone, until this morning, when they brought the breakfast for her. We were already looking for her around, but we couldn't see any traces of her leaving."

Mew then was rushed to all the guys and was punching every one of them right on their face. "All of you, guarding an old woman! And that even you can't do your job right!" Mew was screaming to all those men who were lining up while holding their jaw and was also only could be looking down.

Mew was thinking. He was walking back and fro. "All of you!" All of them were looking up at Mew. "Just do your job as usual as nothing happened. We have one week to act like nothing happened until the next call comes in. In the meantime, I'll try to think about what we could do. If not, just get ready to be killed by the boss. I'll be killed together with you if this ever gets to the boss. Sarawut, I know you always report to him, but please, for the sake of all the men here, don't tell the boss anything yet. I'll think of a way, if necessary, I'll tell the boss myself."

Mew was pressuring his forehead with his hand, still, the headache didn't go away. And with this new problem arise, it just getting worse. "What the hell are you waiting for?! Get to work!" All the men were running taking up their post, as usual, guarding the house with no one inside it.

"Are you okay, P?" Sarawut was coming closer to Mew. "I'm fine, just having a hangover. Last night I was drinking with Tae in his office, but Tae didn't know much. I just know he was helping his blind nong to recuperate in a village or something. Else, he didn't know anything about the boss. But I couldn't get any weird information on the other guy. He told me, the guy was an eye doctor, so, he was helping the blind nong too. Why we were after them again?" Mew was asking Sarawut.

"Boss said to just watch them and make sure they don't do anything else." Sarawut was saying that to Mew who was still pressing on his forehead, who was already taking his seat on the lobby's stairs. "Then I don't think they have anything up their sleeves. rest assured." Mew was making sure he told Sarawut that casually while keeps on watching his expression.

"Who was taking the old woman? Or was she running away by herself? Even that eye doctor guy was joining us to drink last night." Mew said that to Sarawut and was turning to him after that. "I thought you were guarding the café last night. Any movement?"

Sarawut was smiling sheepishly to that. "I was falling asleep, P. Sorry." Mew was shaking his head to that, though secretly he was sigh out of relief hearing that.

"So, what is your plan, P?" Sarawut was asking Mew since he was the one who had to report things to the boss. Mew doesn't understand Sarawut's position. He was sure a new guy in the gang, but he was the one doing all the reports of all the gang's status activity when he thought this group of the gang was all about hierarchy. Sarawut was like a runner, yet he had direct contact with the boss, that's why Mew was always careful with him.

"I don't know yet. Need some time to think. You'll give me time, right?" Mew asked Sarawut just to make sure. "Please don't take too much time, it was hard for me, but that if only he asks about it. Somehow, please do something, P."

Might be because Sarawut is a new guy, so, he didn't really understand how their boss doing things. In this kind of situation, there was actually no way out, except that they could find that woman back and put her back in the house, which, of course, not possible.

This leader was so different from the previous leader who was taken killing was the last resort to take. But this leader, killing was the only solution for every mistake, just like his life and his other gang members don't have any value. With the previous leader, of course, they still do bad things, selling drugs and everything, but their concept was never to force people. People were coming to them, crawling, looking for a problem, and in the end, the people blame them, but that's always fine since they were bad people, to begin with.

But with this boss, everything starts with the nature of forcing. Gang members were forced to have some kind of 'reputation among people' that makes them do a lot of bad things, even as far as raping girls and forcing drugs on schoolboys. Mew was trying to free himself from the gang, which the only way out was dead, and he didn't plan to die if it wasn't his time yet.

Still, he still could survive though he wasn't at the higher rank. He was an old member, and he was still in the lowest rank, that other member would be looking down on him. These boys were respecting him just because he was an old member, but then, other than that, they really weren't looking up to him or anything. It's fine with him though.

He was left alone in the gang. In his glorious days, there were always five of them. Tae never was a part of the gang anyway, but his other three friends had died leaving him here alone with no way out. He missed those days. They were happy and enjoying life to its fullest, but then being a bad guy was never a good thing. He learned that in a hard way, and he was in too deep with no way out.
