Chapter 43

Looking at An Yi Wei's pitiful appearance, the sharpness that he carries was washed away and what remains is his misty red-rimmed eyes along with the droplets of water rolling off his face.

"Caia Xiu!" His lips were pale and thin as he screamed my name with obvious anger.

I flinched when I heard him, my earlier actions flew in my mind and made me want to smash my head on a wall.

You've gone out of character Caia Xiu!

You wouldn't act the way you did before, instead, you would care for him gently and take advantage of his weakness.

"S-sorry, I was just... scared" my voice shakes as I step back away from his enraged figure.

I heard him sigh exasperatedly, lips pursed and he was about to open his lips when he sneezed.

Here's my chance!

"I'm going to take a towel for you! Wait for me here!" I ran off and went back to the hotel and asked for the staff for some towel.

It didn't take me too long to reach his shivering figure and gently put the towel on his body.

"Can you walk? If not, lean-to me, come on" I held his cold hands and help him up.

His body was soaked in cold water making me shiver as well, I held onto his waist as we walk towards the entrance of the hotel.

The staff saw us and helped me take An Yi Wei before going inside the elevator and renting a room.

I already called An Yi Wei's mother and told her that he's drunk so we won't be able to attend the party.

I closed the bathroom door and took off my heels before putting some comfortable slippers on. I'm still dressed for the occasion though I already took my makeup off.

I also went to the kitchen and poured some warm water on the glass, it's what was expected in my character after all.

Before I could step inside the room, I heard An Yi Wei speaking to his secretary and heard his last words.

"Get me the CCTV footage in this hotel, now"

My hand stiffens and I couldn't help but scrunch my brows. Why would he ask for the CCTV footage? Would this answer the reason why he acted that way earlier?

Shaking my head, wanting to get that confusing information away, I went inside.

His eyes were already on me as I continued to walk as calmly as possible though I could feel the hairs in my skin raising.

He was silently watching me with his hawk cold eyes. The temperature in the room turned cold making me want to dive into the duvet.

"Here's some hot water, drink it while it's still warm" I handed him the warm glass, fortunately, he took it. His hands weren't as cold as before

I sat on the couch as I watch him drink the water, my heart beating profusely, thinking that something would happen.

Nothing happened.

That's when I finally realized the fact that something is wrong. I would never act out of character and even if I did, no one would notice and it would just pass like air.

Now, I could see the curiosity in his eyes and the fact that all this time my true thoughts and actions were spilling without the chains of the world stopping me.

I stood up without awareness and met eyes with him before sitting down, my palm sweating and my lips trembling.

Finally, I could see the end.

Well, An Yi Wei noticed, he had already noticed in the earlier chapters and this is just the moment where Caia notice it.
