Chapter 56

Divorce?

It left a bitter taste in his mouth, saying that word as he watched the woman below him smile brightly.

He had never seen her smile since five years ago, it felt so foreign for him to see her smiling so genuinely. As if what he just uttered was an order for liberation.

His heart constricts painfully as he saw the undeniable glee in her eyes the moment he decided to separate from her. Lips spread in a thin line, he walked to her side and snatched the papers.

"I'm going to sign it now" he looked at her grimly but she just nodded firmly.

He feels like he could break the pen the longer he stared at her but something was telling him to wait as if something magical would happen and she would take back her words.

Nothing.

Nothing happened and he felt his heart sink without knowing the reason. He signed the papers, his signature was mocking him for being incompetent and weak yet he dismissed it as just fits of anger.

Then he walked away and left her alone in her room.

As he went down the hallway, he coincidentally saw his reflection and let out a harsh breath.

He felt that he had become ridiculous and crazy, just remembering his rushed figure and his agitated heart makes him indignant that he had stoop so low.

He will never do this, he knows that he would not and for him to break that thinking is just pure madness.

He left his work for her, tolerated her willfulness, and even assured her. He had done things that he would never think of and now, this is what she repays.

He can't understand her, maybe he never will.

"Caia Xiu, you really would be the death of me"

I had fallen asleep the moment he left my room, I had never had a sweet dream before and I knew it's because I had achieved want I yearned for for years.

Now, I just need to wait for the script to appear and see whether something will change or not. Besides, there's a lot of aspects that had changed in the following months and no one can truly know if I will emerge as the winner or not.

With that, I get off of my bed and washed before getting downstairs. I didn't see An Yi Wei's shadow, he must have already left then.

So I decided to look for places far away from here, houses in the rural province is a must. I had already left my parents some money and had kept some enough for me for this year.

I had already sent my resignation letter and will be making letters for the people I love and will be sent to them once I leave.

Everything is settled, the only matter that is needed is the scene to happen and wait for the consequences.

Looking at the signed divorce papers, I couldn't help but smile once more and calmed down.

All this time, I've suffered and wished for this to end, and now that it's in my hand, I can finally loosen up.

One more thing to do and it'll be over, right?
