He had finally finished his work here and the damages had already been solved, the one thing that he needs to work out is his new status and the reaction of his parents to his new identity.
He didn't sleep at all as he travels back to City A and continued to supervise his father's work for a couple of weeks he's gone.
"Young master, Matriarch An is waiting for you in her room" Butler Lin came to his side the moment he entered the door.
He hummed in response as he loosens his tie and went inside the villa. His parents were nowhere to be seen, he guesses that they're already with his grandma.
Butler Lin leads him to his grandma's room, he hasn't even rest yet, and here he is now, about to face his family's scolding.
He arrived in no time and in just a second of him coming in, his grandmother had already scolded him to death.
"You unfilial brat! How could you divorce your wife! You just slapped me in the face, this grandma of yours have lost face to the Xiu family! How could I face them huh?!"
"Ma, please calm your heart-" his father went over and was immediately admonished as well.
"Calm my heart, aiya! I don't think I can calm my heart just by seeing the mess this unfilial grandson of mine made! My poor Caia! Don't you know how pitiful she is?! How much pain she'd endure for you?! Her patience must have shattered because of your wrongdoings!"
At the mention of his wife or his now ex-wife, his earlier steady beat of heart rushed into madness and begun to ache. It felt like something was lodged into his chest and throat making him unable to retort back.
"Ma, it's their decision, we can't just blame Yi Wei," his mother mumbled and caused another upheaval of anger from his grandmother.
The noise began to slowly inch to his head and slit inside making it echo in his head. The irritation from the separation, the noises in front of him, and the unknown feelings surging into his chest made him burst out.
"Enough!"
Silence ensued for a mere seconds before it was destroyed by someone's clap.
"Hao, Hao, Hao, look at the child that you've raised!" His grandmother's face becomes weary as he looks at the three of us with exhaustion. "Enough then, leave my room"
After that, we left the room and separated. I didn't respond to my mother's obvious inquiry and just told them simply.
"We've already separated, our relationship... just didn't work out" then I left the two of them and took a nap.
Tomorrow, he'll wake up to a new day where he won't see a table filled with home-cooked food, he wouldn't see a woman going downstairs and greeting him, and most of all, she wouldn't be tied to him anymore.
There's nothing left for the two of them, their relationship is bound to end like this in the beginning yet something feels wrong.
In the back of his head, it screams at him that this isn't supposed to happen, that they shouldn't end up like this.
For he dreamt of a new beginning, of a future that is too far fetched into their present lives, something that he knows that cannot happen, ever.
He just treated it as a dream, a foolish dream for a man with indecisive thoughts.
