Almost a week has passed after his divorce, he felt nothing at first but then bit by bit, memories of her came to his mind for no reason.

He was used with her just a step away from his side, used to seeing her serene self seating on the television, and used to the fact that whenever he arrives, she's there in their house.

Perhaps he was too used to her existence that when she left, he felt a piece of his organized life had collapsed.

When night arrives, that's when he couldn't help but hate her for she always appears in his dreams.

The warm sunbathing the two of them as they walk along the shore, their feet soaked from the water rushing in. The 'he' in his dreams were too different from the 'he' in reality.

A surge of warmth grips his chest and gentleness overflows in his every action towards her.

It was surreal.

But now, the dream that has hunted him for a couple of days have been painted right in front of his eyes.

To say that he is not shocked would be an understatement though he tries to reigns his emotions, he couldn't help but walk in her direction.

"Why did you paint this?" His gaze was burning against her confused ones.

"Just because" she answered perfunctorily, it's as if she had truly related him as a passerby and he felt his chest throbbed in pain.

He held her wrist, so thin and just a grip her skin would get bruised. It was the first time he held her after their divorce.

"Let me go!" She tried to take her wrist from his hold but it felt like metal rods were chaining her.

"Tell me, why did you paint this?" He gritted in anger, it seems that they never had a proper conversation at all.

In the first place, he never initiated contact with her, and in the last few months, it was all about those pesky rumors of him outside and them fighting.

The thought of her talking to a man and even smiling at him made his heart thump in anger and he couldn't help but gripped her worst tighter.

"Ouch! A Yi Wei you buffon, let go!"

It felt like his hand was scalded in hot water and he released his hold from her. Her wrist had reddened and he couldn't help but grip his hands in a fist in irritation.

The lady from before came in along with the security guard and asked her about what happened.

"Nothing, I knew this guy, just... can you please get him out of here? Thank you"

He felt like he was about to cough in blood from her actions. She truly is vicious, but then it was also his fault.

"I'll leave on my own" he is a very prideful man and he knows his wrong but before leaving, he must ask her.

"The painting, why did you paint that?"

She looked irritated almost and pursed her lips in contemplation. She looked at the painting in a trance as if she was thinking about something then turned in his direction.

"Because I wanted to paint this, nothing more"

He knew that she was lying, even if her eyes were clear and her voice didn't wobble, he just knew that she's lying.

He didn't pursue the matter more and went out along with the lady and the bodyguard.

As he waits for her to finish, his mind went to the days where he realized she had changed.

The day of his grandmother's birthday, her cold expression, and the way she cut him off.

At that time, he already has his hunch. Her personality was split in half, her first persona where she is the elegant and foolishly infatuated Caia and then the Caia who is like a rose-filled with thorns.

The more you dig about her, the more you get intrigued by her.

It's also his fault, he didn't care for her. He gave her riches and fame and the one thing she wants is something that he couldn't give.

The door opened and he stood up but its as if his legs couldn't take a step and he watched her leave.

The bright light from the outside swallowed her and then in just a second, she was gone.

Maybe it's all for the best, maybe he should stop thinking about her, maybe he should have killed this burning curiosity about her.

Then he wouldn't feel this confused and miserable.
