Olanna's POV
By the time the sun was about to set my two friends were sitting like pregnant women, both on each side of the tree trunk Nneka dragged towards the kitchen area. Nnenna later helped when I was about chopping the vegetables.
Nneka couldn't help even if a kitchen knife was held to her throat. So she just helped to start the fire. My husband had his full also because I made sure of that. It was his favourite dish after all.
I could feel him drawing circles with his fingers on my bare back, tracing it to my shoulders then my neck. He knew that was my weak point. I closed my eyes and I was beginning to feel myself relax when someone greeted us.
"Greetings" I almost felt irritated, so I peeled my eyes slowing wishing for whoever was intruding could just vanish. "The King has asked for your presence in his throne grounds tomorrow morning." That got me to peel my eyes faster. "And who does he want to see?" He looked at me like I was stupid and said "You"
"Alright. What time does the King want me to make my appearance?" "Before midday" I gave him a nod and he quickly left, maybe he has other messages to deliver.
"Why do you think the King wants to see me tomorrow?" I asked no one in particular "Well I wouldn't know. Besides it's being long since the King summoned you to his palace. So, what trouble did you get yourself entangled with this time?" Tochukwu , my husband said with his brows raised like he was scolding a child.
We looked at each other for a few moments and burst into laughter. We laughed for what felt like a while before I turned to my friends. The were looking at us like we have grown goat heads. "I think this is our queue to be on our way" Nnenna said getting up, Nneka followed her. "You two better come to my place early so that we could go to the palace on time. Besides if am in trouble then you both are also in trouble because we go everywhere together." They just shook their heads and left. It's like they were still heavy from the meal they ate for a comeback.
Hmm, I think I finally shut them up.
I felt myself being lifted up and I couldn't help but giggle. Almost immediately I felt myself being lowered gently. He is always treating me like I could break anytime soon and it makes me feel so special. He helped me wash my arms. He was starting to wash my legs when I started feeling drowsy. I didn't want to sleep, I wanted to watch him till the sun sets, but it's very hard to fight nature so I allowed it to take over me.
Edikan's POV
To say I was angry was an understatement. I was FURIOUS!!! How dare she. No one has ever talked to me in that manner. No one!!
After Eno - Obong explained to us what she said I went after her, but when I got to the path she took I realized that there were four different paths. I didn't know which path they might have taken. I saw fresh footprints leading to the path by my right. I didn't even wait to analyze if it was a male's of female's I just kept walking in that direction. All I wanted to do was to teach her some manners or report her to their King.
Don't they teach maidens to respect men in this land?
If a commoner was this mannerless then I couldn't help but wonder if the princess had any manners at all. No matter, I will gladly teach my wife how to respect her husband if she dare fails in her duties. Luckily for her my father taught me never to hit a woman no matter what she had done.
I was just walking blindly, I had no idea were I was going to but I started to notice that we have walked back to the heart of the village.
"Edikan, I think this young boy is trying to tell us something. Wait, were are you even going to?" Of course, apart from that mannerless girl only Eno - Obong has the guts to even call me by my name.
