Edikan's POV

It felt like the sun rose the same time I had closed my eyes to sleep because it actually did. Sleeping in a new environment were you trust no one can make one restless. I have always being a light sleeper. I woke up feeling more tired than the time I went to bed.

The maids assigned to my hut helped me dress up. Of course they knew nothing about my attire nor language so the just stood there and watched me dress. Maybe memorizing were which piece of cloth is worn. I was to tired to know.

They led me to the throne grounds after Eno - Obong joined me in my hut fully dressed. I noticed that the throne grounds was decorated more extravagantly with beautiful materials and stones. I also noticed more calabashes filled with palm wine.

"I know being in a new environment can make one feel restless and less at home. But I still hope you slept well" King Anayo said already (Eno- Obong interpretes) sitting in his throne. He wakes up early for an old man. "Yes, thank you"

We were given a sit. I noticed movements at the entrance of the throne room and lifted my head only for me to see the last person I expected to see, the mannerless maiden. She looked shocked as well to see me. Good, it seems she was known for being a trouble maker and had being summoned by the King.

But I was wrong again. She greeted the King with so much familiarity after she made a comment which Eno - Obong refused to interpret. Why am I even still paying him as my interpreter?

It didn't help matters when the King introduced her as his daughter. How come no one told me the King has two daughters? Why was she even moving around without any guard or even a warrior? Maybe the King didn't know she was outside the palace grounds.

Hmmm, maybe if I tell him then that will make him punish her for leaving the palace grounds unguarded. By the gods she could have being kidnapped or hurt. Why am I even bothered anyway?

But I was wrong again when I saw a young man greet the King and sat beside her after. I knew the King has no sons so I asked Eno - Obong to investigate who he was. He later came back and told me that the young man is her husband.

The festivities was in full swing now. Different dancing groups have performed and one is still performing. Maidens and young men were all wearing their best attires. Maidens made elaborate hairstyles so as to stand out.

Drinks and different kinds of delicacies were passed around. We were treated specially because we were guests and soon to be in - laws to the King and the fact that l am also a King.

The King asking me questions about my lands and our culture. The elders sitting close to me with the help of my interpreter explained what each dressing and type of each dance signifies. How unmarried maidens dress so as differentiate them from married ones.

All these could have distracted me from that mannerless girl but it didn't. I do not know what I felt when I found out that she was married. Looking at her and her husband one could see that they adored each other.

There was no hostility between them. She even served him his food and water basin so he could wash his hands after eating. Her eyes were solely on him and on him alone.

Why does she have to be hostile when talking to me then she could be this calm with some one else? Will my wife to be adore me the way this girl adores her husband?

I took a glimpse at Adaeze she has not even touched her food yet. She was was just staring into space with creased brows like she was plotting something.

"Eno - Obong" hmm, he answered me. " What is her name?" "Who?" He asked without looking at me. He was so engrossed with the festivities " The second daughter, what is her name" "oh, Olanna" Olanna, so that is the name of the mannerless girl.
