The day was going pretty well so far

The day was going pretty well so far. For someone who was supposed to be a 'shitty student', Meihua did quite well in school and enjoyed it quite a lot also.

Her next lesson was Physics and she had successfully made it there on her own, like she had promised to Renjun. But, of course, she was surprised when she saw Renjun in the classroom.

There was an experiment that day, and the teacher, Mr Fung, had allowed them to choose their partners. Meihua drifted slowly towards Renjun when she saw no one else was engaging with him.

"Oi- Huang Renjun," She whisper-shouted, "I thought you were supposed to be a third year-"
Renjun covered her mouth with a hand whilst shushing her.
"It was a lie, I'm not a third year student. I'll tell you later."

She worked with him on the experiment, thanking the heavens for her power as she wasn't sure if he would tell her to do something that would get her blown up.

The lesson ended quickly and it was soon lunchtime. Meihua's tendency to always be hungry started acting up again, and as much as she wanted to go and ask Renjun why he had lied, she would need to refill her energy supplies.

After getting her food, a mini pizza and a salad bowl, she decided to look around the cafeteria for Renjun. But she had no luck and went to go and sit with Ningning instead.

"Heyyy, Hua, come sit with us."
And she sat next to Ningning, slightly nervous as she was faced with so many new faces.
"Hi, I'm Changying, you must be Meihua."
Meihua nodded, shaking the girl's hand politely.
The rest of Ningning's friends introduced themselves: Lijuan who preferred to be called Luli, Biyu who liked sports, Chenle who wasn't sure how he ended up hanging out with so many girls, and Kai who was an exchange student from Korea.

"Wait- Meihua you went to Korea, and you're pretty good at Korean."
"Uhh, yeah." She greeted Kai in Korean, and they ended up having a mini conversation between themselves whilst the rest talked about lessons.

Chenle had mentioned that he was a third year student and Meihua felt like asking if Renjun was in his year, but she didn't.

Eventually they were all talking and laughing and playing and Meihua was relieved. She wasn't sure if her first day would go well, or if Ningning's friends would be nice but everything had been going smoothly. And Ningning's friends were amazing, she thought to herself, that maybe amazing people really do attract more amazing people.

Luli nudged her,
"Hey, Hua, there's someone staring at you. He's been looking at you for a while now."
Meihua turned her head to see the boy who was stood at the back of the cafeteria, looking at her.
"Oh yeah, Renjun. I was gonna go and meet him-"
"I'm sorry, who?" Chenle interrupted.
Ningning smirked and nudged her, and Chenle's eyes widened with 'realisation' before he winked at her.

"Oh wait- I get it, he's your..." He winked twice. Everyone at the table looked shocked but Meihua was definitely most taken aback.
"What- No?!?! No way, I just started here, no. what- i- he's my guide."
She huffed, folding her arms and scrunching up her face at the fact that everyone thought she was dating Renjun, even Ningning.

Kai laughed quietly at her actions, mumbling 'cute' under his breath, hoping she wouldn't hear. But she did and she met his eyes for second, before turning away to go to Renjun.
"Uh, thanks you guys, for letting me sit with you."
"No worries, go go, Renjun is waiting~" Changying said in a singsong voice, wriggling her eyebrows.

Meihua huffed one more time before leaving.
"Oi, Huang Renjun. Why would you stare at me like that? Now all my friends think we're dating."
"Dating, huh?" Renjun cocked his head, raising his eyebrows, "Well why wouldn't I stare? I like to stare at pretty things."

Meihua's cheeks burned but she forced herself to cringe, "Ew- don't flirt."
"Why not? If your friends think we're dating then we might as well be... sunshine."
He visibly scrunched his nose whilst saying the last word, hating have to form the word with his mouth. He slung his arm over her shoulder and pulled her in closer.
"Yuck, yuck, yucky, yuck, yuck. Get off me please." She pushed his arm off her, remembering her task at hand.

"Where are we even going?" She said, finally starting to question where he was taking her.
"Oh, to the rooftop."
Meihua panicked, "Oh my Jesus- don't push me off please, I'm sorry, I'll date you or whatever you want me to do just please don't kill me."

Renjun looked startled, his eyebrows drawing together in confusion.
"I don't want to- what- why would I want to kill you? Do you think I'm a murderer?"
There was a kind of awkward silence, in which she didn't say yes or no, but he took it as a yes.
"Well I'm not, I just thought that would be a good private place to go to talk." He scratched the back of his neck, "But erm, if you're uncomfortable with that we could just go somewhere else or-"

"No no, it's cool."
She could trust him, she was sure. He hadn't lied in a while, so there had to have been some big reason why he wasn't able to tell the truth about his age the first time around. Or maybe it would be something small, that she cod ignore.
