Chapter 17
Jared:
I slip into the room slimly, trying my hardest not to be seen. So far it seems to be working. The room we last saw Jasmine, where I was knocked unconscious. For something, anything. A clue, hopefully...
I come out with nothing. I leave the room and go out into the hall. Feeling worthless. First she says maybe! Which in"girl code" means no! And now you can't find any sign of where they're hiding Jasmine!
I storm back into my room. And fall face first on my bed.
"Today, just... sucks!"
"I know."
I turn toward the doorway. Flame stands there, his arms crossed. He leans against the frame of the door. His head tilted toward me.
"Oh. Yeah. It does, though. I mean I thought today was going to be good... but it turns out to be one of the worst days of my life."
"Well... I guess. But, the day is not over yet. We will not be here by the time its over."
"Yeah, we'll be in our kingdoms..."
"No! No we won't, we'll be in the woods. Moving toward freedom... Real freedom!"
I snort. "Doubt that," I mumble.
"You don't think we will?"
"Hate to break it to you, but they have everything. Guards, weapons, and most importantly power. Compared to them we're nothing."
He sighs. "You're right. We do have the bad end of the 'bargain'. We are more likely to get caught. We don't have everything that we need. But, we can do it. Just stop being so negative. And get up! We've got things to do."

I stare into her eyes, her marvelous midnight blue eyes. Her black hair sits on both of her shoulders. But, she doesn't look at me. She stares at Flame, who explains the new plan.
I feel a twinge of jealousy. The way she stares at him, not like she wants him, just absent minded like. But it still manages to get my anger going.
I can feel the steaming rays of it starting in my stomach. Like a spark and slowly I feel the fire spread to my arms and legs. Embedding itself within the limbs.
I feel it burn up my neck, and into my head. Where it embroiders into my brain. Causing me to shake with a slight rage. She can't even look at me anymore! But, she can sit here and practically flirt with Flame!
He already has a girl! I hate you Fay! You're nothing but a- a-
"Ready Jared?"
"Yeah sure whatever."
Fay and I are supposed to sneak into the guard's lounge, and take back the weapons.
Once we're out just the two of us. I manage to calm down. I don't hate her. That was jealousy speaking.
I begin to blame myself for everything I had felt toward her and Flame a moment ago. She doesn't want him, and he doesn't want her... he's got Snow, and she has me.
I swing my arms, in tune with hers. My left arm rubs against her right. She doesn't pull away, as she would when we first met. So she must like me or else she would have pulled away by now.
Slowly I wrap my fingers around hers. She takes them in her hand. And flashes me a smile.
Just as quick as the smile came it dissapears. Suddenly she yanks her hand from mine, and it falls to her side. She stopps in the middle of the hall, and turns to me.
"I- I can't I'm sorry. It's just too soon. I wanna be with you but- but- I can't. I just can't. So what I'm trying to say is..."
I look at her flatly. Knowing what's coming.
"I can't marrie you."
I back away from her obviously ticked off. "Please. Don't be mad at me, I just-"
"I know. You're seeing Flame!"
"What?" Her tone darkens.
"You heard me! You're seeing Flame. Just wait 'till I tell Snow."
"No! I'm NOT seeing Flame!"
I snort. "Sure you aren't," she gives me a look, "let's just get this done."
"Fine!"
We continue on toward the guard's lounge. Once we get there, I try the knob, of course it's locked. So we wait for a guard to go out. None should be in there now, because they're on duty most the time, but they do have their brakes.
And when one does come out, he lets the door just shut itself. As soon as the door shuts, I know it'll lock again. I use my foot as a block and slowly Fay and I sneak inside.
I shut the door carefully behind me.
The waeapons, and more hang on the wall in the back room. "Toss me your bag, I wanna be done with this as soon as possible."
She tossses me her bag. I begin to stuff both large bags with the weapons, while she stays in the front room to keep watch. Once I'm done I go back out there to find her sitting on one of the couches. Just the sight of her makes me angry. As a reminder of what I can't have.
"Get up, let's g-"
I hear the click of the lock and the door begins to open. The chatter of two men, eneters the room along with two guards. They walk in and I hide behind the couch, out of sight.
Fay tries to too, but doesn't make it in time. She's on the ground in seconds, lying on her stomach.
Pinned there by guards. Thankfully I still have both bags. Filled with both our weapons and some of theirs. Fay looks in my direction. Our eyes lock. She lips the words. "Help."
But honestly, I feel a strange feeling of satisfaction at her being handcuffed on the ground.
The same thought that I had earlier comes back to me. I hate you Fay! You're nothing but a-
I search for the word. The right one, the one that suits her. I stand up. Since the couch is behind the guards they don't see me. I dig a large machette from the bag.
Ready to end the guards lives. When it comes to me, the word.
I hate you Fay, I don't want you anymore! You're nothing but a- a... bitch!
With that, I put the knife back and sneak to the door, hastily I push it open and run out. I run back towards Flame and the rest of the group.
Leaving Fay behind, along with the love I once had for her.
