“Goodbye Ma‟am Dale.” The security guard of our studio greeted me
as I head home from work. I decided not to bring my car because I‟m
planning to visit a coffee shop. Instead, I brought my bicycle which I
parked at the basement.
“Where are you going ma‟am?” the guard asked again.
“I‟ll just get my bicycle at the parking lot, uncle.” I replied.
“Oh, about that, Sir Dilann already got your bike there. He‟s waiting
for you at the coffee shop.” He said.
He didn‟t say that he‟s fetching me tonight. So, I just went directly to
the coffee shop which is a walking distance from the studio. Upon I
entered the coffee shop, I saw him at the counter.
“Dale!” he shouted. I walk towards him at the counter.
“You didn‟t tell me that you‟ll fetch me tonight.” I said as he stood
from his seat and moved a chair for me.
“Sorry. I tried to reach out to your phone but unfortunately my
phone‟s battery was dead on my way here.” He explained.
“I see.” I replied as I nodded and staring at him.
“Are you okay? You seem so tired.” He asked.
“Yeah, I am. We tried our best to submit the proposal to Mr. Cheng
tomorrow so we obliged ourselves to finish it before we head home.” I
explained briefly.
“So, that explains why I‟m waiting for almost an hour now.” He said
while setting the coffee he ordered in the counter.
“Well, you can‟t blame me. I didn‟t know you‟ll fetch me tonight.” I
said.
“Somehow, true.” He said and slightly laughed.
We just laugh at each other. We went to the corner to get some book
for us to read while enjoying our coffee.
“This is quite new. I like it.” He said while reading the author‟s note of the book. After an hour of staying at the coffee shop, we decided to go home“Uncle called me yesterday. He asked me if your trip to Palawan is
finalized.” He asked while driving his car.
“That‟s still tentative. My company just gave me three days trip for
that. So, I think I wouldn‟t take the offer. I want a vacation trip for at
least a week not days.” I said as I inclined my head in his headboard.
“I see. But, still think of it. We could go there with your family
together. It‟s been a year since we did not go for a trip. Why not invite
them? We can share the expenses if it‟s okay with you.” He said while
driving.
“Well, you have a nice idea. But, let me first see the proposal
tomorrow. If it needs no revision then we can try to plan for it.” I
said.
“Okay.” He finally said.
After sending me to my condo, since I‟m still staying there, he went
back home. It‟s been a year since we have our last travel. So, I‟m
considering his idea of a family trip. After all, we haven‟t been to any
trip like out of the town.
The next day, Lian prepared the presentation for Mr. Cheng and by
eight o‟clock we will be presenting the proposal towards this new
project we are collaborating with his company. My team prepared so
well every details of the proposal in case they would be asking
questions about it. Lian seems so calm so I‟m confident she can
deliver the proposal at ease.
“Congratulations to your team Dale. Nice proposal.” Mr. Cheng
congratulated me after Lian‟s presentation.
“Thank you Mr. Cheng. We really make sure you‟ll approve it.” I said
and shook his hand.
“That‟s teamwork!” He replied.
“Yes, it is!” After the successful proposal to Mr. Cheng, we proceed to
the restaurant for a simple celebration. I know everyone did their
best to come up with the best proposal for our client in a short period
of time.
After that, I asked them to go home and enjoy the rest of the evening.
They all deserve a good rest tonight. I am about to leave the
restaurant when I received a call to Dilann.
“Yes?” I answered him.
“Did you bring your car? Would you like me to fetch you tonight?” he
asked me. I think he‟s driving because I can hear a soft music from
his car.
“It‟s okay. I‟m planning to commute tonight because it‟s still early.”
“Commute?” He asked.
“Yeah. I seldom do that when I‟m with my team.” I said.
“But you‟re not with them, right?” He asked again.
“Yeah.” I replied.
“Where are you? I‟ll fetch you tonight. I‟m on my way actually.” He said continuously.
“Okay. I‟m at the nearby restaurant.” I finally said the place.
“Same restaurant we visited last time?” He asked back.
“Yeah.” I simply replied.
“Okay. Wait for me there.” He said.
“Okay. Drive safe”. I reminded him.
