During the day, the whole team was busy editing, proofreading the magazine content and arranging some details of it. On the other hand, I attended some client meetings as well as company meeting for our monthly progress report.
Evening came and I'm almost tired of the whole day schedule. Still, I prepared myself to look fresh for my last meeting today with Mr. Suarez. I know he would be very happy of my news. I'm sure of that.
“Dale, do you need my help for anything?” It was Lain knocking at my dressing room.
“I do. Please come in. It's open.” I said while picking out a suit.
“Take the other one on your left. It's simple but elegant.” She simply said and I turned to her with a smile.
“Yeah, it is! Lain, can you fix my hair. I'll do my make up.” I said to her.
“No problem.” She replied.
It took only fifteen minutes to ready myself. I didn't take long in front of the mirror. It's unusual for me to really take long. After that, I get my car in the basement and drive towards the coffee shop while listening to some tracks of MLTR. I parked my car and soon enough I get off from it, Dilann was waiting for me outside the coffee shop smiling.
“Why are you here outside?” I asked while walking towards him.
“Of course I'm waiting for you. Nevertheless you mistook me for a security guard.” He said and laughed at his own joke.
I just smiled at him as we entered the place. I notice that his face is covered with so much eagerness and positivity to the news I will relay to him in this meeting.
“So, how was it? Did they all agree?" He immediately asked upon arriving at the table.
“Could we at least sit first?" I said to him.
“Yes, we better be.” He said while still smiling.
“Waiter!" he called.
“Yes ma'am. What would you like to order?" The waiter politely asked.
“We'll have 2 cups of Black coffee and chocolate mousse cake.", I replied for our order.
“I'm sorry to tell you ma'am that our chocolate mousse cake is not available tonight. Would you like me to suggest for your selection?" he asked.
“Wait, will it be okay for you?" I turned to him and asked.
“I guess black coffee is just fine." He replied.
“Alright. Just two black coffee then. Thanks." I finally said.
“Right away ma'am." The waiter replied.
“Why didn't you order a cake for yourself?" He curiously asked.
"I just don't feel like eating if you're not." I plainly replied.
"Is that so?" He chuckled.
"So, how was it?" He cheerfully asked.
"Well, consider yourself lucky because they all accepted your proposal." I said.
"Thank you. Thank you Dale." He repeatedly said.
“It's a done deal then!” he asked.
"Don't thank me. I do nothing for them to agree." I said."That might be the case but still I'm grateful to you. I know you manage your team so well that they all trust you so much. Anyway, if I could be of any help, don't hesitate to ask. “he said.
"What? Why did you say that?“ I curiously asked.
"No reason. If only I could be a help, I said." He assured.
"Why? Do you have any background in editing and photography? I guess that's where we always spent so much time and work." I asked.
"Not that much but if you won't mind to ask, before I worked as a marketing manager in our company, I was first working as a freelance photographer in U.S. while finishing my degree in Business and Marketing. In editing, so far it's my edge during my college years." He said.
"Silly! I'm just joking. You take it so serious." I just laugh on how he takes my joke seriously.
"Why? I'm really serious to help you if ever you need help." He said looking at me. I felt awkward so I simply looked away then back again with a casual look on my face. “This is a business meeting Dale, not a date” I thought to myself.
“Are you serious? A CEO will work with us? Don't worry. We can manage everything. " I finally said.
"If that's what you said, alright then. But my offer is still on the table anytime during weekends. I just need something to be done at least during those days." He insisted.
"Alright! Alright! If that could make you happy, I'll try. I'll just give you a call if ever I will need an assistant." I replied.
“But, how can you call me if you don't have my number?" he asked.
"Oh, I'm sorry! I forgot that we didn't get each other‟s number that night at the park." I said."Right. So, can I have your number?" He politely asked.
"Here. I will send it to you." I said.
"It's quite late. I think we need to go now. You drive your car, right?" He asked.
"Yes. I'm afraid I might be late in our appointment.” I said.
“No, you arrived just in time earlier. I was just excited to arrive a little earlier
than you.” He said."Can I at least walk you to where you parked your car?" He asked again.
“You don't have to. It's just nearby.” I said.
Dilann insisted and walked me towards the parking lot and bid each other a goodbye. The night was deep but calm. I then drive back towards the studio.
