It was after half an hour of waiting outside the restaurant where we
had our celebration of the closed deal when I saw his car parking in
front of it. Dilann peaked out from the car‟s window smiling widely at
me. The espresso machine outside the restaurant is distracting me
from hearing whatever he said from the other side of the road. So, I
decided to step outside and walked towards his car. Luckily, it had
stopped raining but the night was humid and with quite a low
temperature. As soon as I reached his car, he gently opened the door
and hung his jacket on me.
“It‟s cold. Wear this.” He gently said and led me to the other side of
the car. A bouquet of white roses welcomed me inside. I felt happy,
touched and warmed.
“Congratulations dear. I know you did well.” He said and kissed me in
my cheek.
“Thank you. That‟s sweet.” I said and began teasing him as he turned
red all over his face.
“We better go.” He simply replied after that. While driving, I noticed that he keeps on sighing. I know that the
chilling night air creeping under my jacket might give him chills but
his sighs were different.
“Are you okay? I think you‟re the one who needed a jacket.” I said as I
turned to him while he is still focused on his drive.
“No, I‟m good.” He simply replied and back again to his driving.
My eyes wandered on the beautiful street lights hanging high over
each corner. As the night grew deeper and darker, they keep
illuminating the street. Little did I know, I‟m starting to get
mesmerized of the small squares of the building lighted with yellow?
I began wondering who might work there.
“Hey, are you okay? You might stiff your neck.” He said.
“I just feel that the night was different. It‟s not gloomy like the usual
thing I feel whenever we‟re passing this street.” I said.
“Oh, maybe because it‟s still early unlike most of the time I drive you
home very late and almost morning.” He reacted.
“Maybe.” I simply replied.
We agreed to have a stop over by the sea side to enjoy the serenity of
the place. Though the moon is peeking shyly behind the clouds, but
the waves of the sea is so calm just like a skating rink. As we are both
enjoying the serenity and romantic view of the night, Dilann get his
keys on his pocket. Perhaps he felt uncomfortable while sitting in the
trunk of his car.
“Dale, can you move closer?” He asked me.
“Yeah, sure. Is there any problem?” I asked him. But, to my surprise
he hugged me from the back and showed the keys right in front of my
face.
“Why are you showing me your keys?” I asked confusingly.
“Ahh…Take a look at these. This golden key is for our gate. This silver
key is for our front door while this smaller silver key is for the back
door. But among these keys, I want you to take this.”
I was surprised as he pulled a ring on his pocket.
“Will you spend the rest of your life with me in this house I prepared
for us?” He asked with all the emotions in his eyes.
I was speechless that very moment. A lot of things are running out
inside my mind. “Shall I say yes? Do my parents know about this? Am
I ready?” What‟s more shocking is when I responded him “Yes”.
