I became Mrs. Dale Saavedra three years ago, December 31, 2017.
Until now, I am still working as a Senior Manager with thirty three
staff working in my team. On the other hand, Dilann is successfully
running their family business as the Chief Executive Officer with
Gabby as his Assistant Executive Officer.
“Hon, I‟m done preparing your luggage. Is there anything else you
need for your one week conference?” I asked him while he‟s busy
preparing his presentation in his office.
He simply smiled at me and gestured me to sit beside him in his
office table.
“Is it okay?” I asked him.
“Sure! I sometimes sit on it. Besides, it‟s durable.” He said teasingly.
He raised the curtain of his glass window overlooking the sea view
near the park. After that, he sat on his swivel chair and grabbed my
hand as I play and brush off his thick curly hair with my right hand.
“Will you be okay here without me? Our conference is quite long this
time. For the past three years, this would be the first time I‟ll be away
from you for a week.” He said with a sad and low voice.
“Hey, it‟s okay. I can manage. Just be safe throughout that week for
me. Sorry if I won‟t be with you this time.” I said to him.
“It‟s okay. I understand. I honestly felt sad for missing out your
awarding ceremony in the next few days. But, I want you to know that
I am so proud of you and your team for all of your achievements.
Don‟t worry, I will treat them for a dinner after my return.” He said as
he raised his head and look at me.
I just smiled and make some funny face at him.
“You‟re beautiful hon. I‟m so blessed to marry a woman like you.” He said seriously.
“Oh, this face is highly limited edition.” I joked around that made him laugh so hard.
We got some moment of silence until I noticed that he‟s already
falling asleep on my lap as I am still brushing his hair with my hand.
“Are you sleepy already?” I asked him.
“ Yeah…sort of.” He effortlessly responded.
“Then, go now to our room. I‟ll take care of everything here in the office. I‟ll follow after I am done here.” I said to him.
“Thanks hon. Goodnight.” He said and kissed me on my forehead.
“Goodnight.” I respond.
It‟s been a week after Dilann flew for his conference in Davao City.
Earlier tonight, he asked me to tell our driver to fetch him at three
o‟clock in the morning in the terminal station. I simply said “yes” but
behind his back, I decided to personally fetch him in the terminal.
Besides, we just closed a deal after our awarding ceremony so we‟re
not yet busy in the office.
I set my alarm clock at two o‟clock in the morning since the terminal
station is a thirty-minute drive from our house. I decided to be early
since I want to prepare him a coffee in his tumbler and a sandwich for
an early breakfast while I‟m driving him home. I knew how tiring his
flight is so I guess this would be a little gesture to cheer him up.
I opened the gate and went back to my car. I secured everything
before I decided to finally fetch him. The villa guard just greeted me
as he opened the main gate. I drove thirty-minutes as expected but
the ship hasn‟t yet allowed the passengers to proceed to the terminal
station. The weather is calm outside as I waited for him so I sat by the
bench and hugged myself. It took few minutes when I noticed a
shadow in front of me. Thus, I lifted my head.
“Hey, Good Morning.” I said as I was startled of his presence.
I didn‟t know if he‟s happy or surprise after seeing me in the terminal.
“Wait…is this for real? You‟re driving the car? Since when?” He asked
continuously.
I laughed at him after hearing those questions.
“Sorry, I haven‟t mentioned since then that I know how. Maybe
because, I don‟t need to drive for myself back then? But, I know how.
(laughs).
“Wow! I‟m speechless. Thank you. I thought I was just too tired to
imagine things out while walking near you.” He finally said.
“Let‟s go? It was cold out of…” I wasn‟t yet done saying but he already
hanged his jacket on my shoulder as he‟s leading me outside the
terminal.
“I‟ll drive?” I asked him.
He raised his brows then say, “Yes, you may.”
I turn on the engine and began driving. I asked about his trip and as I
expected, it ended up well. Halfway before I need to make a U-turn
towards our place, I asked him to open the bag beside his seat.
“Thanks. I‟ve been looking for this taste since last week. You‟re
homemade coffee is one of a kind.” He said.
“You seriously know how to make me smile.” I responded.
“Nope. I‟m really serious.” He said.
“Fine! There‟s more! I paired it with sandwich. Just open the lunch
box.” I requested him.
“Woah! You prepared lots of things, huh? Perhaps, this is the
advantage of being away for a week. It‟s worth it.” He said.
“Don‟t be cheesy. I‟m just free to do it. My schedule isn‟t yet too
demanding.” I said to him.
“Whatever! I‟m glad to be home.” He finally said.
