Thank god for a school bell. School was finally over for the day and I was done with being a cheerleader for that moment. Never, ever, ever, will I ever put on another cheerleading uniform after this week is over. I will be done. Free, even.
Ethan, Benny, and I were currently sitting around Benny's computer desk looking through Benny's spell book. Me and Benny had the same book, but he had his book out first before I had even gotten to Ethan's.
"Benny, are you sure it's the cheers making you tingle?" Ethan doubted, "Maybe it was gas," He put forward as an option, shrugging a tiny bit.
My eyebrows knitted together as I chewed on my fingernails as I thought. My chin lay rested on the palm of my hand.
Benny shot a wide-eyed expression at Ethan, "My tingles are never wrong," He told Ethan. I perked my head up to look at Benny as he leaned toward the spell book and pointed at the page the book was open to, "Look. Forces of nature; earth, air, fire, water," Benny listed off, "That's what makes a star," He said, his voice slowing down at the end of his sentence. His facial expression dropped.
I relaxed my eyebrows as I began to understand what was happening. Ever since I had found out that I was a spell master just like Benny and my grandmother, I had been doing my research. Going to the local library, researching online, even digging into some of my family's history, and studying the spell book Benny's grandma had gifted me, a bit more.
I closed my eyes and shook my head, "Oh, god," I cursed under my breath as I laid my head down in my lap, making Ethan look down at me.
"Clover, E," Benny started, "this isn't just some chick cheer. I think this is some kind of..." He was explaining, looking in between the two of us.
"Incantation," Me and Benny said in unison. I picked my head out of my lap and he turned his head towards me and nodded in my direction.
Ethan averted his eyes, "Forces of nature. That's what makes a star..." He read off from his memory, "We may look like girls..."
"But that's not all we are," The three of us said together. All of us exchanged eye contact with one another.
"Oh, man," Ethan said in a worrisome tone of voice, "So Stephanie doesn't just act like a witch..." He said.
Benny nodded his head with an anxious expression planted on his face, "She is one," He ended.
Ethan stared at Benny intently, "So that vision I had in the gym, it wasn't Erica's;" He stammered, "it was Stephanie's," Ethan concluded, "And tomorrow's rally has nothing to do with team spirit," He told us, Benny squinting his eyes at Ethan as he spoke.
"Holy shit..." I grumbled, "She's after the human spirits of the whole school," I pointed out to them, blinking slowly as I glared down at the floor. I tugged on the ends of my hair out of nervousness.
