When Benny had called me for the second time that evening asking if I wanted to go to Ethan's, of course, I was quick to say yes. I had nothing better to do than to lay around at my house and watch the Star Trek marathon that they had been playing on TV for the past eight hours. It was supposed to last all week, so I suppose I could always watch it on another day when the boys didn't need my help.
One of my backpack straps rested on one shoulder as Benny and I waited on Ethan's front porch for someone to answer the door.
"So, you still didn't find anything?" Benny questioned me, raising an eyebrow, and narrowing his eyes.
I shook my head at him and crossed my arms, "As I told you over the phone. Zip zilch zero. Not a thing," My eyes flickered down to the porch.
His eyes lit up and he a smile popped up onto his face, "Lucky for us, Clover," he began, flipping open the flap on his bag and rummaging through it, "I found a spell in my spell book that could work," Benny told me with confidence in his voice. He pulled out his camcorder and held it tightly in between his hands.
I furrowed my eyebrows at him, "What's the camera for?" I asked curiously eying the small video recorder.
"To catch the whole thing on camera," Benny smirked at me.
As we stood on the porch conversing back and forth about the spell, the side of the front door to Ethan's house finally opening was heard making both Benny and I turn our heads to look at the person who was opening the door.
It was Ethan's mom who had opened the door.
She grinned at us and held the door open for us, "He's in his room," Mrs. Morgan informed us as the two of us stepped foot inside Ethan's house.
She closed the door behind us and returned to the living room with Jane, whose eyes were fixated on the TV screen, probably watching Dusk like usual. Jane was still obsessed with that movie even after the premiere had been a huge bust and all of the fans were now a dying breed, besides Erica, of course.
Benny and I led ourselves up the stairs and into the upstairs hallway, walking beside each other.
When we reached Ethan's room, Benny grasped ahold of the doorknob and turned it quickly, pushing open Ethan's bedroom door.
He slipped inside the room as I followed behind him.
Ethan turned around in his swivel chair seeing the both of us, "Hey, Benny," He welcomed, "Ophelia," Ethan's eyes darted in my direction as he said my name, "Any luck?" He debriefed as he stood up out of his chair.
