Benny, Ethan, and I walked down the sidewalk of our neighborhood. It was very dark and very cold, and I didn't know exactly where we were going and I'm pretty sure neither did Benny or Ethan.
As we walked, Benny started pulling things out of his messenger bag and dropping stuff all over the pavement.
"What is all that stuff?" Ethan turned around and asked as I helped Benny pick up his fallen gear and gadgets.
I piled the stuff into his arms and he answered Ethan, trying to keep up with him, "Digicams with night vision infrared," Benny told him, "You can't possibly expect us to investigate the supernatural realm without the proper equipment," He explained, stuffing things back down into his bag, the only thing he was carrying was his night vision camera.
"Fine!" Ethan told him as we speed walked down the sidewalk, "Just keep it on the down-low, okay?" He asked, "She already thinks I'm a perv."
"Well, you did walk in on her in the bathroom," I said to him, trying to keep up with them. Ethan looked back at me and glared at me, "Sorry," I apologized.
"You said her reflection wasn't all there, right?" Benny asked him, looking at him.
"Yeah," Ethan confirmed, looking at Benny as he was talking.
"Here's a thought," Benny said, "What if this is some publicity stunt thing for that stupid Dusk movie?" He conspired, looking back and forth between me and Ethan. Benny fell behind as Ethan and I kept walking forwards, "If this is a "punk", I knew it all along!" Benny shouted, his voice echoing. I stopped and watched him point his fingers at every corner of the neighborhood.
"Benny!" Ethan yelled, "Shhh!" He hushed, "Come on. I think she was headed towards town," He informed Benny and me as we walked a little further down the sidewalk.
-
"We should've brought our bikes," I groaned as I trudged along beside Benny as we entered the town."Too late now," Benny nudged my side.
My feet were aching even though we'd only been walking for about ten or fifteen minutes.
The town was quiet and the crickets were chirping up a storm as we stopped in the middle of the sidewalk."It's hopeless," Benny said, tired and out of breath, "We lost her," He stated the obvious, "Must. Have. Pizza," He groaned, staring at Ethan through his goggles.
"She's out here," Ethan told us, "I...I can feel it," He said, looking around the empty town.
"What?" Benny questions, confusedly, as the rattling of trashcans and bottles breaking was heard out of a nearby alleyway.
