Ruby stood stock still paralysed in complete fear and terror as the man advanced toward her, she wished she could run, oh how she wished it, but fear had frozen her rigid, he was not what she would expect a monster to look like, an ordinary looking but huge man but she recognised his dark demonic presents, and knew that he was clearly a Vampire, as the moon glinted off his sharp angular looking teeth and blood red coloured eyes that being a dead giveaway.
"Hello, my dear." the Vampire said just as he stepped forward to envelop her in his evil ora and sire her she screamed her lungs out again, but to no avail.
As the Vampire sank his teeth deep into Ruby and drank away her life, his Witch guardian, another younger more inexperienced Vampire and Witch looked on. "I see now my lord how easy it is to feed, I can smell her blood." The scream was again heard by George "oh my god no" he said again to himself, as he continued to run in the direction of the scream as fast as he could. As he reached the attack, the younger Witch cast a spell at George that amounted to nothing he swiped a punch at her, knocking her out cold in one go, she a young blond, and full-bodied Girl of no more than 18, took the unexpected punch full in the face and dropped like a stone, her long black silk dress flowing around her, the wind taking it as she collapsed to the ground, then he continued running full pelt toward Ruby and the attacking Vampire. In one continuous movement, the Vampire dropped, the now dead Ruby and launched George skyward.
As George was flying through the air, he took out a wooden stake from the inside pocket of his sleeveless leather tunic, he landed crouching and ready for the impending attack, anger playing on his face as he looked between Ruby and the Vampires, he was very lucky not to lose his grip on the shard of wood.
The younger looking Vampire leapt at him with an evil anomalistic look about him, fangs bared hissing, keen to impress the older Vampire whilst at the same time avenging his fallen Witch. As he leapt, George thrust upwards with the stake as the two met, the Vampire fell to the ground. He started to ventilate, gasping for breath and hissing and roaring, cracks began to appear over his face and his visible skin, and light streamed from the fractures. all the time he was screaming and roaring. At this the unconscious Witch woke and looked on and through a groggy haze, when she realised what was happening her eyes widened, and she reached for him screaming, "MASTER" just then he exploded in a cloud of dust, with the dusting of the Vampire, the Witch began to scream, but the scream was cut short as she vanished like the snuffing out of a candle.
The Vampire, responsible for Ruby's demise waved at his Witch to hide, as he slunk back into the darkness he could see that whilst he was confident of a win this was clearly not going to be an easy victory, and he didn't feel the need to engage in an unnecessary fight, a decision he would later come to regret.
George leapt over to where Ruby's body lay still and crumpled, crying out "RUBY" clutching her lifeless body to his chest crying quietly and rocking back and forth in a sorrowful stupor.
having heard the screams, his father Harris came rushing over brandishing his scythe ready to take a swipe at any unsuspecting Witch or Vampire. He stopped dead when he saw George on the ground Ruby's dead body in his son's arms and bowed his head. "I'm so sorry son" he said almost in a whisper.
The morning of Ruby's funeral brought no news from her farther Bernard, and no reply having been sent from Ruby's mother Winifred. Harris felt obliged after some cajoling from both George and his wife Arabella, to attend her funeral both to act as support for George and as Ruby's self-appointed guardian at the, funeral service.
After the service, George stood in the small grave yard that only had one tomb and a small one at that, and with no more than 20 headstones in various states of decay adorned with lichen and moss, at a small insignificant mound of soil that marked Ruby's final resting place a simple cross at its head inscribed 'RUBY 1800 - 1817.
