Please note that this oneshot is a huge reference to Dan and Phil. If you're at all familiar with them, this is probably pretty obvious. I just joined the phandom a few months ago, so there was probably a ton of stuff that happened that I never mention, and also some stuff that I get wrong, sorry about that. When people started shipping them, Dan and Phil had not stated that they were okay with being shipped with each other. I do not condone shipping real people. It's okay if everyone involved in the ship has stated they're fine with it, but in any other situation please don't ship real people!

March 26th, 2006. When Roman Lester woke up that day, he didn't think his life would change. But it did. He uploaded his first video to a website called YouTube. It was a pretty new site where people would post videos of themselves telling jokes, or talking about their lives, or sharing about their trips to the zoo. Roman had decided to start a channel on the site. His channel was called AmazingRoman. And on that day, he uploaded his first video, thus changing his life forever.
About a year later, Roman's channel hit 100 subscribers. 100 people who supported him and watched his videos. Among those 100 was someone who Roman would end up being super close with. That person was Virgil Howell.
Virgil wanted to start posting YouTube videos, but he wasn't really sure where to start, so he went to someone who seemed to know what they were doing.
"Hey buddy, can I have some editing tips?" Virgil sent the message to a YouTube by the name of Roman Lester, better known on the internet as AmazingRoman.
Eventually, Virgil uploaded his first video. On October 16th, 2009, he uploaded 'Hello Internet' to Virgeisnotonfire.
3 days later, October 19th, 2009, the pair met in person for the first time. During their visit, they recorded a video titled 'Romanisnotonfire' and uploaded it to Roman's channel. It was a pretty simple video. It was, at it's core, a Q and A, but it had a unique spin put on it. The video ended with Roman tackling Virgil, and when the upload button was clicked, it began. The shipping.
On February 13th, 2010, Roman did something that, in the long run, make the shipping much more intense. He recorded and uploaded a private video, telling Virgil (who was on holiday at the time) how much he loved him. The video eventually became known as 'The Valentines Video'.
The following year, on August 10th, 2011, the two moved in to a shared flat in Manchester. The had officially gone from being people who only knew each other through the internet, to being flatmates.
On September 17th, 2011, life changed even more for the pair. Due to a YouTube glitch, The Valentines Video became unprivated. Roman fixed it as quickly as possible, but it was too late. People had already seen it. Roman and Virgil insisted that it was an April Fools joke they had decided was too cruel to go through with, but so many people didn't believe them.
A few years later, on September 12th, 2014, the pair's first joint YouTube channel, VirgeandRomanGAMES was created. They uploaded videos to this channel for several years, in addition to continuing to upload on their own channels.
On March 26th, 2015, they announced something almost no Youtuber had announced before. They were going on tour! They had plans to perform a live show called 'The Amazing Tour Is Not On Fire" as well as announcing a book they had written.
A few days later, their second joint channel was born. On April 1st, 2015, they created VirgeAndRomanCRAFTS. This channel only featured one video at the time. It was a satire tutorial for how to make 'squareflakes'.
On October 8th of that year, their book was released, and they performed their show live for the first time.
On April 1st if the next year, the continued VirgeAndRomanCRAFTS with the upload of another satire craft tutorial, this time for glitter faces.
They continued to perform their tour in several places until the final show on December 6th, 2016.
On May 1st, 2017, Virgil uploaded a video that shocked his fans. It was titled 'Virgeisnotonfire is dead'. It was a slightly exaggerated title, though. He just wanted to get across the fact that he was rebranding. He changed the name of his channel to just his name, and from the ashes of Virgeisnotonfire rose Virgil Howell.
On October 10th, 2017, the pair announced that they were going on a second tour. This one would go all over the world, and was called 'Interactive Introverts'. The tour went from April 28th, 2018 until September 21st, 2018, with a total of 80 shows.
On June 13th, 2019, Virgil uploaded yet another video that would change how people viewed him. A video titled 'Basically I'm Gay'. He talked about his journey with sexuality, and why it had taken him this long to officially say anything about him being queer. He talked about some of his lowest points. And he talked about Roman. Of course, everyone wanted to know about their relationship, and he gave them an answer. Kind of.
"And this is when, through the magic of the internet, I met Roman. And obviously, we were more than friends, but it was more than just romantic. This is someone that genuinely liked me. I trusted them. And for the first time since I was a tiny child, I actually felt safe. And the relationship we formed at that point was something that I needed in my life. We are real best friends, companions through life, like actual soulmates. Not that souls are a real thing that exist"
Although Virgil had kind of already done it for him, Roman also posted a coming out video just a few weeks later. His, entitled 'coming out to you' was much less deep, but people loved it nonetheless.
But, they still left a big hole open. Are they still together? Then, on December 29th, 2020, during a livestream, they announced that during 2021, they will move into their forever home. A house they designed that's been under construction since 2017. And while it isn't a concrete answer, pretty much everyone knew the implications.
