 A boy with long blond hair in a cat hoodie and light-wash jeans ran into his room and slammed the door behind him. He collapsed onto his bed in tears. 'I wish they would respect me, I wish they would actually call me Patton' he thought as he cried. A sound entered his ears, drowning out the sounds of his parents yelling at each other downstairs. He could've sworn it was someone singing. 

 "I've seen that look before

I've worn it all too well

It's hard to comprehend

How far that I have fell" A boy who was dressed like a prince fell into the room. Literally. Patton fell off his bed because of how startled he was from the fact that someone just fell through his third-floor bedroom window. 

 "But I have found a place

That I can call my own

And I could take you there

Why should you be alone?

No need to hesitate

What are we waiting for?

I know you're what I'm looking for" the boy held out his left hand and gestured towards Patton's window with his right as he sang. Patton looked from the window to the boy's hand, before cautiously taking it in his own. 

  "by the way, the name's Roman" the boy in the prince outfit whispered, pulling Patton onto his back and jumping out the window.

 Patton shut his eyes tightly, before realizing that he didn't feel like he was falling. As he opened his eyes and looked around, he realized that Roman was flying.

You take the stage light
Have you wanted more?" Roman sang softly. Patton looked down at the city below them in awe. Before too long, the city view changed to a clear lake, and Roman flew close to it. Patton reached his hand down and let it drag through the slightly cold water.

 "Tear down the night sky

And I'll save you
From your mundane life
Yeah I'll hold the door
You take the stage light
'Cause I've found the cure
You're what I'm looking for" Roman continued to sing as the pair neared and island. Roman landed on the soft sand and allowed Patton to climb off his back. 

 "Now if we stay right here

We'll always be this young
I'll never leave your side
We'll never have to run" Roman sang. But he wasn't focused on the singing. He was focused on watching Patton run around the island, exploring it. Roman wasn't sure why, but something about Patton made him feel all fuzzy inside. Suddenly, Roman felt Patton grab his arm and pull him out of his thoughts, guiding him to a waterfall he had found.

 "And I can feel your heart

As you lay by my side
Your eyes are all I know
This world where I reside" Patton smiled down at the fish in the small stream at the base of the waterfall. Roman watched Patton with a similar fond expression. 

 "No need to hesitate

What are we waiting for?
I know
You're what I'm looking for" Roman had stopped singing at this point, but the lyrics continued in his head, and although he knew Roman wasn't singing and he had never heard the song before, Patton could've sworn he heard Roman continue the song. 

 Roman guided Patton to a small cave on the island and pushed aside some vines that covered the entrance. A girl popped out, startling Patton and making Roman chuckle slightly. A few more people exited the cave, and Roman introduced them to Patton. These people were Roman's family. They weren't really related, but none of them knew their real relatives. So they depended on each other. Patton didn't say it, but he wished he could have a group like this instead of his actual family. 

 "Oh baby

Turn down the night sky
And I'll save you
From your mundane life
Yeah I'll hold the door
You take the stage light
Have you wanted more?" Once again, although Roman wasn't actually singing, Patton could've sworn he heard him continue his song. The group pushed aside some bushes and pointed out a ship in the distance, talking about how fun it would be to explore what was on it. 

"Turn down the night sky
And I'll save you
From your mundane life
Yeah I'll hold the door
You take the stage light
'Cause I've found the cure
You're what I'm looking for" Roman guided Patton away to a small, secluded area. The pair talked for a bit before Roman gently grabbed Patton's face. They both slowly learned it, giving the other time to back away if wanted. But before their lips could touch, Patton disappeared in a cloud of mist.

 Patton woke up in his bed, certain that what had happened was a dream. But he still thought he could hear Roman's singing. 

"And I can be your light

When all you know is fear
And I can lift you up
Far from these fallen tears
Why should we hesitate
What are we waiting for?" Patton went downstairs and saw his parents fighting again, as they always did. He ran back up to his room and grabbed a pair of scissors, chopping off his ponytail. He heard a much clearer singing than before

"Oh baby

Tear down the night sky" Patton looked to his window and saw Roman on the window sill. He ran towards the window and jumped into the other boy's arms, accidentally pushing both of them out the window.

 This wasn't an issue, of course. Roman caught him and the pair took off over the city once again. 

"And I'll save you

From your mundane life

You take the stage light
Have you wanted more?" Roman flew the pair to the island once again, still singing

'Cause I've found the cure
You're what I'm looking for" Patton never returned to his home with his parents. He stayed on the island with Roman and the others, being accepted into their family. This was what he always wanted. One night, Roman guided him back to the secluded spot they had almost kissed upon their first meeting. 

"Yeah, you're what I'm looking for" Their lips actually met this time.
