TW: hospitals, pain meds, mentions of surgery
Emile sat in the waiting room at the hospital. His best friend of 15 years and crush of 3, Remy Java was in the OR, getting a mastectomy, better known as female to male top surgery!
A little bit later, a nurse came out into the waiting room.
"Emile Picanni?" She called. Emile stood up and followed her.
"He's still on a pretty high dose of pain meds, so he's a bit out of it, but he wanted to see you" she told Emile, leading him to Remy's room. She knocked on the door. Nobody answered.
"Remy, there's someone here to see you" the nurse said, opening the door slightly. She and Emile were greeted with the sight of Remy sleeping peacefully in his bed, his newly-flat chest rising and falling softly.
"He'll probably be awake soon, if you want to have a seat and wait" the nurse suggested, gesturing to the chairs in Remy's room. Emile sat down in one of them and the nurse left the room. Emile gently took Remy's hand in his own.
About 20 minutes later, Remy woke up.
"Do you how do?" Emile asked happily
"Em! I'm a tiny bit sore, but I'm okay. How are you?" Remy responded
"I'm great. I'm really proud of you!" Emile exclaimed
"thanks! I have something I want to tell you..." Remy said solemnly
" if it's that you're trans, I already know" Emile replied
"no, it's not that" Remy laughed
"I love you, Em. Romantically. I have for years" Remy said. Emile's jaw dropped
"you're sure that's not just the pain medicine talking?" he asked
"pretty sure" Remy told him
"I love you too, Re. Always have, always will" Emile replied, kissing Remy on what he intended to be the cheek. At the last second, however, Remy turned his head slightly and ended up kissing Emile directly on the lips. The pair pulled apart.
"I love you" Emile whispered
"I love you too, babe" Remy whispered back
