Chapter 8: Lull

On a weekday morning, Daniel hangs up a call with his wife at the Miyagi-Do dojo when he hears someone punching the punching bag. He smirks and starts walking towards the backyard screen door.

Daniel LaRusso: "Robby? Y/N?" He walks toward the bag but can't see who's punching it. "I guess the early bird catches the wor--"

He immediately loses his smirk when he sees it's none other than...

...

...JOHN KREESE?!

John Kreese: "It's a cute little place you got here."He takes out a pipe and smiles before lighting it in his mouth. "You teach karate... or gardening?"

Daniel LaRusso: "So, this is what it comes to? Breaking and entering?"

John Kreese: "I'm just here to say thank you."

Daniel LaRusso: "Thank me for what?"

John Kreese: "Well, taking our weakest soldiers from our ranks. That was kind."

Daniel LaRusso: "They're kids." He retorts.

John Kreese: "We were all kids, once." He continues. "You may think you got the best of Johnny Lawrence. But I promise you, this time, I won't let him lose."

Daniel LaRusso: "Lose what? This isn't war."

John Kreese: "Sure it is. War never ends. Peace is just... the lull between battles." He walks closer to him and smirks evilly. "Did you really think you can attack Cobra Kai and there wouldn't be any consequences? You better hope that your students are ready. Because I promise you, ours will be." He looks inside the dojo door. "And I'd watch that Y/N of yours, I'll admit he's got a lot of potential. Wouldn't want to lose him to us when he sees your 'defense-only karate' for what it really is. Weakness." He walks towards the exit, but with disrespect, he snuffs out his cigar on the dirt of a nearby bonsai tree. "Regards to Mr. Miyagi." He exits, leaving Daniel alone.

At the LaRussos' house...

Sam and Moon were in Sam's bedroom, wearing summer clothing. Moon gives Sam a green drink and so she takes a sip.

Samantha LaRusso: "It's good."

Moon: "It has fresh acai, organic kale, and free trade hemp oil." She explains with a smile.

Samantha LaRusso: "Hemp oil?" *looks at the drink skeptically* "I mean, this isn't gonna get me high, is it?"

Moon: "I don't think so. It's supposed to balance your kinetic energy."

Samantha LaRusso: "I'm really glad you called. I missed hanging out with you." She says gratefully while reaching into her closet. Moon nods in agreement. "So, which one do you like better? I've been wearing the white top a lot."

Moon: "Well, why does it matter? You're just gonna get all sweaty." She replies.

Sam seems to agree, but she gives a passionate sigh and gazes at the wall.

Moon: "Wait... do you have a crush?"

Samantha LaRusso: "I don't have a crush." She denies it, but on the inside, she knew she was lying.

Moon: *gasps* "Is it the cute guy you introduced me to last week? Y/N?"

Sam closes her bedroom and sits on the edge of her bed with Moon. She doesn't answer, but Moon knew instantly she was right.

Moon: "Oh, my god! How long have you guys been..."

Samantha LaRusso: "We haven't. We almost..."
