author commentary

I feel like I've already said this but I'm saying it again.

I'm reading this book and its not a really great book but its not that bad either. I am currently trying to get into it I haven't made it that far yet because I keep getting tossed out of that zone that I can get into while reading.
lets start with the character introduction for the most part I only skim through these because I feel like most of the time to much info is given. Say for instance in a werewolf alpha omega taekook book, it's often that these are the books with the character introductions. For your first character introduction there will be a picture of what the author is wanting the character to look like. Then their name, age, and rank. That is all the info I can tolerate in an introduction. Yet not every intro stops there and proceeds to give info such as attitude and friends and family and anything else that I should be able to piece together through the story. This continues with all the characters. Since I'm currently complaining about this particular book I'm trying to read the writers introduction was sooooo much longer for each character. I skipped the majority of it because I prefer to read the book I don't need the book report.

As I'm reading a new character has been unlocked ** I wasn't aware I was playing a readable video game** another few paragraphs of character info which I'm sure is unnecessary as its what I assume is a minor character. I continue reading  and at this point here I decided that I needed to bitch or I was going to pull my own hair out. The main character an alpha his mate an omega both don't want a mate. After finding out about the alpha and his past we find out why he can't have a mate. Its at this point a new character has been unlocked yet hasn't been mentioned other then ghosted over as being the fathers friend's daughter. So another long description of a  character. To me these descriptions are just notes an author uses to plan out the character and shouldn't be part of the book. I'm not a math teacher I don't need for you to show me your work.

All the unnecessary introductions I can easily over look. Since I was complaining I was going to complain about it all.

I get into a sort of zone when I'm reading the better the story the better the zone.  My imagination works and plays out what I'm reading like a movie in my head but with a better understanding of the characters cause books let me know what they feel and think. That's why books will always be better than the movie. I wouldn't let my oldest daughter watch a movie that was based off of a book unless she read the book first. In elementary school she read the Twilight series and Harry Potter as well as the Hunger Games series. She was complaining to her boyfriend about it but then tells him she's glad I was like that because that's where she got her love of reading.

Anyways what really bothered me and kept pulling me out of my zone was that when a character would do or say or think something that she herself done, said,or felt she would throw in that piece of information. If I wanted this info I would ask to read your diary. None of that is relevant to the story so I don't need to know it. Save this type of commentary for the end of the chapter giving me the option of caring or not.

I know that I'm being extremely harsh about this the way I'm saying it. I personally don't have anything against anyone on here that wants to make friends and share about their lives. I have my good days and my bad days and I guess today is a bad day. I do read author notes at the end of the chapter because I know that often when someone here is having a hard time I want to help and offer encouragement. Sometimes I do skip them if I'm caught up with the book and just want to reach the next chapter.
