AUTHOR'S NOTE

Hey guys! Finally an update after so long! I don't want to spoil anything, but this chapter is a small shoutout to my fellow New Yorker's.

Also, this is my warning for this chapter that it will be mature, and my final warning for the story in general.

Enjoy!

Elle's POV.

Tuesday passes by, and it was a tranquil day much needed to balance out the previous turn of events. Most of it was spent in clouds, as I revel in the memory of Christian's skin against mine.

Audrey was practically bouncing off the walls once I filled her in on all the events of the senior trip. Of course I omit some details, the ones that aren't too family friendly. It's still so much to wrap my head around.

Hunter wasn't even a thought in my mind either. It's crazy that weeks ago I felt like I couldn't live without him. I remember the ache of losing him vividly, yet now I have to remind myself of his existence, as I forget sometimes. Life is funny in that sense.

Either way, it was now Wednesday and I was getting ready for my date with Christian. I got no details about this date, other than to dress warm and wear comfortable shoes.

I was nervous and excited at the same time, and I'm faced with these emotions all morning as I prepare to see him. I decided on jeans, with a thick white knitted sweater. My hair was pulled up into a ponytail, so I could conveniently wear a headband that acted as ear muffs. It was pretty cold outside. To top it off, I throw on black low cut Uggs.

Looking at myself in the mirror, I notice something that wasn't there before. It wasn't tangible, but can best be described as an ethereal glow. I'm glowing. I focus on my eyes, and they are happy. The happiest they've looked thus far.

"Where are you going looking all pretty?" My mom asks, as I'm on my way out. She knew Hunter and I broke up, but she didn't know about Christian.

"Out with Christian," I reply with a nervous smile. I mean, I wasn't lying. We were going out...on a date.

"Oh, that's nice. Where?"

"No clue actually, but he's outside."

I kiss my mother, and promise to text her whenever I arrive at this mystery location. I felt kinda bad for not admitting that him and I were more than friends...especially since he was so quick to claim me in front of his father.

A broad smile is already on my lips as I walk towards Christian's parked car on the sidewalk. The winter air is crisp, and makes my skin tingle as it whips across my face. My palms counter natures iciness, as they grow more and more clammy. I'm nervous, although I shouldn't be.

"Hey." I smile, entering the passenger's seat of Christian's car.

My presence seems to catch him off guard, as he quickly looks up from his phone. His green eyes latch onto mine, causing my pulse to quicken in response.

"Hi." He replies, matching the length of my smile. He keeps his eyes on me for a moment, almost as if he's analyzing something before leaning in to kiss my cheek.

There's a tingling sensation left on my cheek once he pulls away.

"How was your night with your dad?" I ask, as he drives off...still no idea where we are going but somehow I know the destination will be good.

The smile that once reside on his face now vanished, replaced by a still expression. He huffs, and runs the hand that's not on the wheel through his hair.
