Elle's POV
I quickly answer the phone, a huge grin on my face. It's about time he's gotten back to me."Hey babe, I'm so sorry, my phone has been dead!" He says frantically into the mic. I'm instantly relieved that he's alright.
"I was so worried!" I pout. "But I'm glad you're okay. Where are you anyway?"
He's silent for a moment, before his quiet response.
"I'm at Liv's house. She had a bad day, and needed me."
Oh, wow.
It doesn't take long before I'm overcome with annoyance. Olivia is Hunter's "best friend." Now don't get me wrong, I was never opposed to him having female friends, but she's a different story. For every minor inconvenience, she calls for him and he willingly complies. He'll drop anything to be by her side, which I hate. Plus, I'm no idiot. I see the way she looks at him...the exact same way I do.
"Oh. Seems like she's been having a lot of bad days recently." I remark flatly. Seriously though, she can get a paper cut and he'll go running to her.
"Don't do that...I'm leaving in like an hour. Want me to come over?" Leaving in an hour? I want to tell him to get the fuck out of there right now. Instead, I take a deep breath.
"Remember my sister's party? It's today."
"Oh. I can still stop by?"
"Do what you want." I reply, and end the call. My attitude was a bit uncalled for but I can't help my jealousy. It feels like I'm sharing my boyfriend, which it shouldn't. I've dropped subtle hints to express my discomfort about her, but he doesn't seem to get it. I will never ever tell him who he can, and can't be friends with, so I guess I'll just have to deal with it for now. Deal with it, and be really fucking annoyed.
I almost forget Christian is standing right beside me.
"Don't say anything." I warn, as I rub my temples. I'm in no mood to explain anything to him, or hear any of his smart ass remarks.
"Was just gonna ask if you're okay." He shrugs. "Are you?"
Fantastic question. Am I okay? Let's assess the situation. My boyfriend always finds a way to put some random girl before our relationship, and I'm expected to just deal with it. How'd that make anyone else feel? Not too pleasant, I bet.
"I will be once I get some of those in my system." I point to the full tray of tequila shots in front of me. I immediately take one, and down it before texting my best friend Camila to come over. Fuck this party, and fuck Hunter. I'll have my own party.
"Want one?" I ask him, as I swallow my second shot. I'm moving a little too fast, but I honestly don't care. He shakes his head, and I realize that his focus was directed elsewhere. I follow his line of vision and it leads me right to my sister's best friend, Kayla. They both seem to be checking each other out. I take another shot.
"Go." I cough, after the burn of the alcohol subsides.
He snaps out of his daydream. "What?"
"Clearly there's somewhere else you wanna be, so go ahead."
Obviously everyone has some place they'd rather be but with me.
He contemplates it for a moment, before nodding. "I'll check on you later, after I get a taste" He licks his lips, before approaching his target.
"Knock yourself out." I send him off with one final pat in the back.
The alcohol was starting to kick in quickly, and I know this because I struggle to make my way to the front of the living room. That doesn't stop me though. Instead I stop a waiter in the middle of his walk, and grab another shot off his tray. I hope I don't end up hating myself for this.
