Send me to sleep my lovely dove,
With your succulent kisses and summer scent,
And when you do spend my last time with me,
Send me to the river I call my bed,
Flood me with feathers of your tears,
And keep me locked on the bars of your heart,
I do feel oh! So tired lately,
Don't forget to tuck the children in their quilts,
Kiss them goodnight and tell them my stories,
And when they do grow up,
Old enough to take care of themselves,
Come to me my precious darling!
And tell them to send you to sleep.
