Moonlight Transformation

Goodbye...Serena

Serena swam next to Luke. He tightly cradled Opal, each time giving her air. She stopped him and hushed him silently.

Serena pressed her lips to Opal's forehead. Bubbles immediately came out of her mouth and her tail split into legs.

Luke blinked and his eyes widen. His eyes glanced at Opal and her legs began to melt them together.

"What? Serena!" He gasped and handed Opal over to Sofia. Serena laid on his lap - or tail. "Serena, why did you do this?" He cried. Serena leaned over to his ear and whispered: "Moonlight..." To whom which she used up all her air to say. No bubbles came out of her mouth. He could no longer feel her heart beating.  Serena was gone.

Luke cried silently, thinking of all she did for him. "I'll never forget you." He cried and then had almost forgotten about Opal.

He turned around and saw that she had an emerald green tail. Even though it was dark, the scales illuminated the cell.

"She looks beautiful." Sofia whispered and waited to hear what Luke would say.

Tears still streamed down his cheeks. He realized that each time he cried, the tears would vanish. It felt odd to him but, he didn't mention it.

"Why, did you do this?" He cried glancing at the lifeless body that was once Serena.

Sofia placed a hand on his shoulder. He moved his head towards her and gave her a hug. "It's ok, she probably knew this was going to happen." She then realized, she was crying as well.

Opal jolted right and was scared. She choked a little while holding her neck. "Luke..I...can...breath..I can breath?" Asked confused.

Sofia swam to Opal and hugged her. "Oh Opal, you are alive." She cried while smiling.

Luke swam over to her and hugged her protectively. "Opal." He whispered and kissed her cheek.

She broke the hugs and had a complexed look on her face. "Why am I breathing?" She asked.

Luke sighed and looked sadly at her. "Serena, she gave up her ability to be a mermaid....to save you...so now...she's dead..." he cried.

Opal looked at Serena. She gasped and buried her face into his shoulder. "No, no. It's my fault she's gone." Opal cried like a child. Luke nodded and cried in her hair.

They both finally stopped crying. Both had red puffy eyes abd stuffed up noses. Luke decided to change the subject. "Hey, Opal, you have a tail."

(JACOB'S POV)

The young prince swam back and forth in the room, thinking of a plan.

'They already captured others. I must hurry.' He thought with determination.

He scanned hid room, making sure no one was watching. When it was clear, he rummaged through his drawer and found a dagger. "Perfect." He muttered, smiling to himself.

He dashed out of his room and swiftly swam to the dungeon, making sure not to get caught.

Prince Jacob was son of Queen Emeka. She believed that merpeople shouldn't mate with humans. It was disgraceful and shame to her and the whole kingdom. Death was punishment to those who did break her law.

Unlike her son, he believed that any mer folk can love anyone. Even of it was human. Unfortunately, he had a secret that would soon bring shame to his mother's eyes.
