*Three months have passed*
"Phil! Phil, I need your help with something! My mum called from the kitchen. I ran to her, wondering what was up, when I saw the bottle of empty milk and sighed. "Here's £2. You know which one to get." He dropped the coins into my hands and I nodded.
"Green." I told her and walked out of the door, into the warm morning air. I stuffed my hands into my pockets to conceal the money.
"Heya Phil." I heard the familiar voice of my only friend calling, so I looked around and saw Chris following me, his cheeky grin wide. "Whatcha getting? Green?" He laughed and I nodded.
"Come if you want. I need someone to speak to anyway."
"Aw, Phil, Dan will answer your calls one day. Wait, what calls?" Chris twisted his mouth. "Ya need to talk to 'im, mate."
"How can I when he clearly stated that he didn't want to see me anymore." I frowned. "Anyway, I've moved on."
"To meh?" Chris roared with laughter. "Yeah, I may be ya only mate, but Dan is- was- much be'er than meh."
"Chris..." I moaned, pushing the shop door open with my hand. The bell jingled and I made my way to the dairy products. "Green." I mumbled to myself. "Green." There was no green left. "Dammit. What do I get instead."
"'I suppose I had better get the blue, but what will my mum say?'" Someone quoted from behind me. His voice was so familiar that it hurt. "'Dan, look over there! Lion Bars are back!'" I slowly turned around, my heart pounding. Could it really be, after all this time?
"No way." I whispered, glancing at Chris to see if I was halllcinating, but my friend was staring at him in surprirse too.
"And you ran to them, tripped, and sprained your wrist." Dan said quietly, his eyes sad with the memories. "I called your mum, bought the blue milk for you and took you home. And do you remember what you said to me? 'I can look after myself, Dan..."
"... but I'm glad you're here." I licked my lips as he grabbed the blue milk and brought it to the counter. He handed them the money and then gave the bag to me. "Is it really you?" I asked him, not taking the milk.
"Yes, now take the bag my arm is getting sore."
I took it quickly, wondering why he was there. "Dan...?" I blinked tears out of my eyes. "Chris, can you see him?"
"Yeah, man. It's flipping freaky." Chris whispered, pulling out a pack of gum. "Do you want one?"
"No, thanks." I replied, still staring at my ex. "Dan, why have you come back?"
He sighed and I could see that he was crying. "I came to say I'm sorry, and that I still love you after all this time and... I'm moving away, Phil. With my family, to London. This is the last chance I'll get to say goodbye."
"What?" I whimpered. "Is it forever?"
He shrugged. "Until I'm old enough to come back here." Dan's eyes regarded me, and then he was walking away, out of the shop. I didn't even pause; I bounded after him, calling his name in anger.
"Daniel James Howell, don't you dare walk away from me like that! Dan!" I caught up with him and placed my hand on his shoulder, ready to spin him around. "I swear if that was your idea of a goodbye, then-"
I didn't even get to finish my sentence. He grabbed my face in his hands and pressed his lips against mine. I stumbled for a second, utterly taken aback, but I finally regained my balance and kissed him back, running my fingers through his hair. He moaned against my lips, and I coukd taste the saltyness of his tears. Or were they mine? I didn't know, and I didn't care.
We eventually pulled away, gasping for breath and staring into one another's wide eyes.
"You have no idea... how much I've wanted to do that." I gasped, still shocked.
"Same." Dan breathed, wrapping his arms around me. "I'm so so so sorry. I never wanted to break up with you and..." He cut himself off. "I'm sorry."
"I understand why you did it." I reassured him, and kissed him again. It felt so good, every second and every tingle; it felt right. "I love you so, so much Dan Howell."
"And I love you Phil Lester." He broke apart. "But I'm afraid this is our last goodbye."
"No." I whispered, clinging onto him. "Please don't leave me again. Please, Dan!"
"I don't want you, you understand that, right?" He stroked my wet cheek. "I wish you could come with me."
"Maybe I can." My face lit up as an idea settled. "We're both seventeen, right? Soon we'll be able to live away from our families. We could live together!"
"Phil..." Dan sighed, but I was on a roll.
"When we turn eighteen, I'll come down to London and we can move in together as best friends but really we will be dating and we can make videos and eat all day and-"
"Phil, listen." Dan stopped me. "That is a wonderful idea, but my mum will never let me. She hates you now."
"Who cares? Dan, we could finally be together!" I shrieked in joy and kissed him again. He kissed back, but he shook. "Dan, we can wait, don't worry. It will just be us two, together."
