Chapter6; Another murder

Cal was eating a breakfast of bacon, eggs and fresh yogurt from Mrs. Aria the weird lady that lived next door, with his foster father Bill a stream of steady chatter flowed as they both chatted about little things (Cal did most of the talking ) he was just telling  Bill about the last exhibit he saw yesterday when his father's phone rang, Cal frowned "sorry buddy I've got to take this" he said as Cal shrugged and took both of their dishes to wash, although he couldn't hear what exactly his father was saying he heard three words "there's a  dead body in the woods" Cal bit his lower lip as he quickly finished washing his plates and headed to his room, and sent a text to the group-chat

Cam was playing video games with Polly who was surprisingly good at Overwatch when his phone buzzed "is that Cal?"  Polly asked fondly, Cam nodded he knew that Polly liked Cal because of his good conversation skills, the pent up energy he always seemed to have and his easy going attitude a strong contrast to him,.he sighed and unlocked his phone. It was a text from Cal.
Ava was practicing her dance routine, she had her headset on the music booming in her ears even though she had listened to the song so many times it was engraved in her memory. "Ava" Ava stopped and removed her headset her mom was dressed in her uniform "I'm heading out I'll be back before dinner you can have the mac 'n'  cheese for lunch" she said as Ava nodded, just as her mom had left her phone buzzed, she opened it and checked the message.
Reese had his nose buried between a thick paperback titled 'Advanced Biology'  his reading glasses balanced delicately on his nose. He glanced up every five minutes at the thin patient lying under the heaps of duvets with various bits and odds sticking out of his body, the heart rate machine was still beeping the only thing that gave him hope as, the patient was his older brother Ryder who had been in and out of coma for three years, and for those three years Reese had kept him company never once loosing hope. His phone buzzed and he checked his text.
Irena sighed as she chewed on another bread stick pretending to be interested in the snobbish gossip of rich kids that unfortunately attended her father's weekly Sunday brunch in his country club. She was tucked away at the corner of a rather comfy couch watching 'Friends' on her phone, when it buzzed notifying her that someone had sent a text.
Haylee pulled herself up sweat dripping down her dark brown skin as gravity pushed her down again, she pulled herself up. Her phone buzzed on the bench as she let go of the bar she was gripping tightly and landed on her feet, she grabbed her towel and wiped most of her sweat before picking up her phone. It was a text from Cal.
Adriàn was binge watching fast and furious with his sisters and mother the popcorn and nachos bowls balanced on his lap. He was reaching for a hand of nachos when his phone buzzed he picked it up and read the text.
Sage was flipping through her history textbook trying to cram as much information as she could for her upcoming history quiz, when her phone buzzed. She picked it up and read the text.
Kimberly was reading the last book of a new series she had just gotten obesessed with; Percy Jackson, she had just started book one a week ago and was already working her way through book five. She was leaning towards her nightstand in an attempt to grab her bottle of water when her phone buzzed she picked it up and checked her text.
Freddie was passed out on his bed it seemed like all the adrenaline from yesterday had worn him out, for that he was glad, but another problem had presented itself. Boredom. He groaned as his phone buzzed just as he was about to doze off.
"Are you sure you want to go back?" Will asked Jake who rolled his eyes "it's my house I have to go back at some point" Jake replied "I know, I know, I just.." "I'll be okay"Jake assured him as their phones buzzed "it's Cal" said Will "and there's another dead body" said Jake
Hina was arranging her closet, arranging her clothes by their different colors, she was stuffing in a vibrant red puffy dress when her phone buzzed. She picked it up.
Twenty minutes later the gang arrived at Bennett's Cafe as Reese had texted. Well all except Irena. "Where's Irena?" Reese asked, the others shrugged "I'm here" said Irena as she slipped in a seat beside Ava, she looked like she had stepped out of Vogue, her platanium blonde hair was in a tight bun held with silver hair clips, she had a light dusting of blush on her pale cheeks, and red sparkly lipgloss, she was dressed in a dark blue short sleevedress and a lighter blue purse hung by her side, "love the outfit" said Haylee snapping her fingers "thanks" Irena replied "so what's going on?" Irena asked "first of all I'm pretty sure you all got Cal's text" said Reese "yeah" the others replied "great so that means they're exactly three murders in a span of two consecutive days" said Reese "maybe the third person was murdered by someone else, I mean, we're not even sure if it's a girl or boy plus they count have been murdered differently from the other two" Sage pointed out "and on the flip side they count be the same" said Kimberly "so what do we do?" Ava asked, "we can sneak in and look for the body, by now it should be in the morgue for the autopsy report" said Cal "great, Adriàn, Hina and I will distract the doctors, then Sage and Kimberly can look for the body" said Reese.
"Are you sure this is going to work?" Adriàn asked as he drove them to the hospital"of course when have any of my plans gone wrong?"Reese asked" Adriàn looked at him "okay don't answer that" said Reese as he parked his car in the parking lot. "Good morning Jane you look lovely today" said Adriàn "is he flirting with her?" , Kimberly asked as Jane giggled "I just got a new haircut" she replied as the others snuck in, "which way is the morgue?" Sage asked "past the last two wards" Reese replied as three doctors walked towards them "hey, Doctor Reed, Dr. Jones and  Marina " said Reese as the three doctors turned to face him "hey, Reese what's up?" Maria asked "nothing much I just wanted to introduce you to Sara's niece" he said nudging Hina forward signalling at Sage and Kimberly to leave.
It didn't take them long to find the morgue. They slipped in silently closing the door gently behind them, and faced the rows and rows of freezers "how do we know who is who?" Kimberly asked "Reese said they have dates on the freezers so all we need to do is to look for a body that was brought in today" said Sage as they began their search. Five minutes later, "I found it" Kimberly called out, the freezer was marked 2017-12-9 Emily Brit. Sage pulled open the freezer the body was covered with a light blue sheet, Kimberly pulled it down, the body was pale tinged with blue blonde hair splayed on the stretcher, lips chapped and finger nails blue, Sage took a photo and they left the morgue.
"We took a picture" said Sage as she uploaded it on the group chat "shit, that's nasty" said Adriàn, "from the photo her throat was slashed" said Sage "she was hung, I can see rope burns just above the gash" said Reese "and her gut was sliced open" said Kimberly "okay, now that we know how they died" said Cal "we don't know how they died any of these three things could have killed them" said Kimberly "which is why we need the autopsy report" said Reese, "well working with what we do know, is that there's a serial killer out there, and if we can find out what makes these three girls special and something they all have in common we might be able to predict the killer's  next victim" said Adriàn.
