CHAPTER 11; TRAINING AND GENIUSES

"So what are we doing here?" Jake asked, the group had gathered in the woods after school as instructed by Mr. Ronsith, "training, i'm going to help you control your powers so it doesn't go haywire during the full moon" said Mr. Ronsith,  Cal frowned "but our powers haven't gone haywire since the first day of school" said Cal, "your powers are adjusting, i assure you, they'll go haywire during the full moon" said Mr. Ronsith, as he handed them the pearls, "focus all of your powers feel it pumping in your blood flowing through your veins" he said as they closed their eyes.

Tendrils of darkness burst out from Reese's fingertips just as Haylee and Adrian burst into flames, lightning danced around Will, as ice spindles surrounded Irena, Hina's skin glowed golden beams of light bouncing off her skin, the sky darkened and thunder rumbled as a gush of heavy wind breeze past them, amber-yellow energy swirled around him, for Sage her eyes turned pink, Kimberly's turned green her teeth turning to massive fangs and her nails to claws, Ava's eyes glowed red as the dead leaves around her shoot up into the air were they remained suspended, Freddie's eyes turned orange as he raced into the woods, leaving a cloud of dust and orange blur behind him, "hey, hey, hey, what's happening?"  Hina asked as her feet left the ground, "we can fly?" Reese asked, "we can?" Haylee asked by now everyone except Cam was in the air floating around, even a couple of trees "no, you can't Cam just reduced the gravity around you all" said Mr. Ronsith, "so i can control gravity?" Cam asked waving his hand and the others came crashing down, "ouch!" said Irena glaring at Cam, he chuckled nervously sorry, "so now that you all have manifested your powers here comes the tricky part". For the next two grueling hours the group learnt how to somewhat control their powers, Kimberly could control her strength better, Haylee and Adrian didn't spontenously burst into flames, Reese learnt how to not shadow-teleport with every shadow, Hina learnt how to not turn into the human sun, Cam learnt how to not suddenly reduce the gravity of things, Irena could stop herself from turning everything to ice, Will learnt how to not turn into a human thunderbolt, Mr. Ronsith was teaching Sage the difference between reality and the future, Ava was still learning how to not make things float or change the shape of things, Freddie still had a long way to go, for a kid who was naturally ADHD combined with his sudden ability to run faster than light there was basically no way to tame him but at least they managed to stop him from running around the woods every twenty seconds, Jake was learning how to focus on one weather at a time, and Cal who was still struggling to control his energy projection powers, every time one of them used their powers, Cal would absorb their energy and channel it as his own which put a massive amount of strain on him so after the two hours he was extremely tired, ."I can't feel my body" he moaned as his twin Cam picked him up, "well, good thing i'm driving us to Ben's cafe" said Reese, "thank god i need an ice cold drink my body is on fire" Haylee groaned as everyone piled into Reese's car. Thirty minutes later they were relaxing with cold milkshakes and yogurts with a chocolate chip cookies and strawberry cheesecake, "um, guys did you know there was a rocket science championship competition today?" Ava asked as she looked up from her phone, "no" Haylee replied through a mouthful of cheesecake, "well there's a rocket science competition today at 7:00pm" she said as Reese glanced at his phone "crap! crap! crap!" he muttered as he stood up, "what time is it?" Hina asked, "7:25" Reese replied. "Where's the competition?" Reese asked as turned on the engine "city hall" Ava replied "dammit, that's thirty minutes from here" said Adrian, "Cal your dad's the sheriff right?" Reese asked "foster dad" Cal muttered "well, can you play the son card and get us out of getting over ten speed tickets?" Reese asked as he drove out of the cafe's parking lot, Cal frowned "i guess i can" he replied, "good" said Reese as he stomped on the gas pedal the car sped down the street and into the main-street traffic, "crap! everyone must be going to the city hall for the competition" said Reese "yeah, these kids are more than prodigies they're freaking geniuses, it says only juniors in AP physics are allowed to participate and it's Southern point against some big shot boarding school in Utah" said Ava, "the witches are going to have a great killing spree" said Jake, "they only need to sacrifice two" said Sage "doesn't mean they wont kill everyone else they get stronger by eating people and about 14, 000 people are going to be in the town hall" said Jake, Reese tapped his finger impatiently on the steering wheel, "we don't have time" he muttered as he opened the compartment beside his steering wheel and brought out a sign labelled 'STUDENT DRIVER' before slamming down on the gas pedal weaving in and out of cars, he yanked the wheel to the left and the car lurched to the left once again speeding down the street, "i see it!" said Freddie as Reese slammed on the brakes. The town hall was filled with locals and students from Utah and parents of the opposing team members, "do you see any witch?" Will asked Cam, "nope" Cam replied popping the 'p' "and the last question for toady what-" and the lights went off, the halls erupted into whispers, just as a blood-chilling laugh echoed through the hall the kind that echoes through your head no matter how hard you try to shut it out, the kind that gives you goosebumps and turns your skin pale, "crap! they're here!" Sage muttered, as the sound of glass shattering echoed through the dark hall, more blood-chilling laughter filled the hall joined with the frightened screams of the locals, more laughter followed by dying screams, "what's happening?" Ava asked sounding frightened "we need light" said Adrian, Hina nodded as she unsheathed her sword and focus her powers her sword lit up, bathing the hall with a dim glow, "crap!"Freddie murdered the ground was littered with dead local, some had already been eaten so only half of their corpses remained while some had been gruesomely impaled by glass, "no! no! no!" Reese muttered two students one from Utah and the other from Southern point were dead, their heads caved in, wrists slashed and a deep wide gash on the side of their head, "we've got to find them" said Adrian as Kimberly's eyes turned green, she closed her eyes and focused on the different scent like Mr. Ronsith her taught her until she caught the stench of rotten flesh, she gasped and opened her eyes, "they're in the parking lot" she said, "on it" said Freddie as he raced out of the room and Reese walked through a nearby shadow, the police cars were arriving, "no, no, no"  Reese  muttered as one of the three witches slashed her palm and placed it on the ground massive spikes shot out of the group entrapping the cars, Reese closed his eyes and raised his hands as tendrils of darkness shot out of his hands, wrapping themselves around the witch that had made the spikes he turned his hands into fists and the darkness that had trapped the witch spread through her turning her ashen skin black as she howled and crumbled to dust, "you!" one of the witches snarled turning to face Reese she rushed towards him but a blast of amber-yellow energy knocked her backwards, "my dad's in that car asshole!" he yelled as the witches snarled at them, "we'll be back" said the first witch she said "yeah you better run!" said Freddie as the witches started to fade, "no matter, we will prevail, when the moon drips with blood our brethren shall join us, the world will drip with blood" said the second witch as they faded into nothing.
