*buzz buzz*
I pick up the phone, hoping my voice isn't as shaky as it had been for a while that day.
"Hey Yachi."
"I've told you a million times over, call me Hitoka. My grandma still calls me Yachi, it's weird." she mumbles in her delirious state, I was able to hear the crumpling of the bedsheets before a large gust of freezing wind blows in my face.
"Are you outside right now? It's getting late."
"It is late. I just wanted to talk to someone."
"Why? What happened y/n??"
"Asahis leaving."
"Leaving? Leaving you? Huh? What do you mean leaving? Weren't you guys not even dating yet?"
"We weren't technically, and now we definitely aren't. He's going to Paris when he graduates. I mean, he's going to fucking Paris. He was so insistent on going to Tokyo or maybe even Miyagi because of me. Could you imagine turning down an offer as amazing as the one he got for a girl he isn't even dating? Not his friends or family, just me. I'm so stupid, why does this shit always happen to me?"
"What always happens to you? I'm still delirious, walk me through your thought process."
"Something bad happens as soon as things start getting good."
Yachi sighs, "You pushed him to go to Paris and now you're complaining about it?"
"Hitoka, I miss when you were scared of me." I deadpanned. "And yes I did and now I am. But what kind of person would I be if I let him stay somewhere in Japan for me, only for me to end up getting nervous and think I'm not ready for a relationship again. He'd be wasting his potential, and I'd never forgive myself."
"... you love him don't you?"
"Shut up. Don't say that. Let me be angry I've been sad for hours before already."
Hitoka giggles once again, "It's late y/n, hurry up and get home, okay?"
"Fine" I grumble in response and unwrap a blue jolly rancher before I pop it into my mouth and stand up. "Bye Hitoka, thanks for talking to me, I needed it."
"No problem, just hurry up and text me when you get home."
She hung up and left me to walk home, the street lamps illuminating my path.
Asahi cant sleep. He would usually only have happy memories to focus on. Now all he could think of is how he hates seeing her cry. He hates how she talks down on herself all the time.
Stepping out of his bed and slowly making his way to his front door, he puts on a jacket and boots before walking out and seeing her walking away from his house. He debated calling her over and asking how stupid she had to be, to be walking around alone at 1:30 in the morning.
"...stupid, stupid, stupid" he heard me chanting to myself as I break a frozen puddle in my way. His eyes widen at my language that slowly turned into a slew of curses, getting louder and louder as I stand in place. Fists clenched, I turn around to take one last look at his house. I sharply inhale as I see him already in his winter attire, shocked at the tears streaking my face. I see him slowly open his mouth as if debating to say something in response to my toddler-like temper tantrum before I unclench my fists, mutter a quick "sorry", and speed walk back home.
