Kuroo and I were walking at a relatively slow pace down the street, enjoying each others company so late into the night. I had been aimlessly flirting with him the whole evening because of my slight intoxication, but I was more interested in a friendship with him now that I've sobered up little.

I just didn't have the energy to be in a relationship and get feelings that would inevitably unravel into some sort of drama, as always. I had also suspected that he wouldn't be interested either, what with being the captain of a volleyball team, chemistry nerd, and probably ogling Yuki every chance he got. Why would someone choose to ignore Yuki anyways?

Other than me of course.

But I cant blame him, and it didn't hurt my feelings. I wasn't able to fall for him. Kuroo was fun to talk with, and since I am well rounded in every school subject, I had no trouble picking up on his dumb science puns that I also found too funny.

When I reached the front of my driveway, I thanked him for walking me home and for keeping me company, hopefully somehow communicating that it was nothing more than just that. After a quick hug that gave me goosebumps because of his body heat in contrast to the windy air, he said goodbye and started walking back.

I step into my house with multiple new contacts in my phone, peeling off my shoes and lining them up on the mat like I always do. I head to the bathroom, desperate to feel the warmth and comfort of my shower, sighing when I finally feel the water beating down over the top of my head, enveloping me in a hug-like embrace, rinsing off the grime that's built up through the night. Once I've fully washed every inch of my body and hair, I step out continuing my routine, sighing as I detangle every knot.

Tonight wasn't as terrible as I had expected. I made a new friend, talked a bit more with other classmates, and managed to see Yachi nearly shit herself when Yamaguchi complimented her new pink nail polish.

Slipping into my regular shorts and t-shirt for bed, I make a mental note to make sure Yachi thanks me for picking the nail polish out for her the night before. Sure, I would've had a slightly more pleasant evening if Yuki wasn't there to throw herself over Asahi every chance she got in attempts to push my buttons, but it was good enough.

I lay in bed now, scoffing at how she has absolutely everything I don't have and more, yet she's still obsessed with trying to break me.

Feeling my eyes start to flutter closed, I text the manager group chat saying I got home safe before letting sleep overcome me.

I wake up later than usual, thankful that its finally the weekend, as I sit up to crack my back and make my way into the kitchen to make coffee. Mindlessly scrolling through my phone, I check my voicemail only to find 4 missed calls from Yachi along with multiple drunken text messages to follow. How is she going to keep up during todays practice? I sigh before getting ready for todays practice with a cup of coffee in hand, leaving some leftover to pour into a thermos for poor, hungover Yachi.

"Here, I thought you might need this." I say, handing the coffee to Yachi, who still looks super out of it. She simply grunts in response and starts drinking as I hold back a laugh while practice starts.

Practice goes by fairly quickly, all of the members focused on getting better and woking together as best as they could. After a particularly powerful serve from Asahi, I stand in partial shock, his broad back flashing through my mind on repeat before he walks up to ms asking how he could improve.

"Hey, Y/N, you okay?" he asks with a hand on my shoulder.

"Huh? Oh yeah no I'm fine," I internally scream, "that was actually perfect, you should try practicing until you do it like that a few times in a row, okay?"
