"I told her I loved her."

"Why do you look like all pouty then?" Suga placed a hand on his hip.

"She never said it back." he mumbled as he looked down at the floor.

Suga and Daichi were sure she had felt the same although she hadn't said anything.

"When did this even happen?" Daichi tried getting to the bottom of it.

"Well, she was working at Ukais last night. She saw me walking outside and was rightfully upset at me for my outburst." he said, still staring at the floor.

"And?" they both urged him to continue.

"She grabbed my hand and dragged me back to her house. She didn't say where we were going, but I just went into her car without asking, and she drove to the beach. We went over everything. And at some point, I said, 'I genuinely thought I was in love with a lesbian this whole time'." he sat down on his bed and shoved his face in his pillow.

Suga starts laughing hysterically as Daichi attempts to stifle his. The whole situation seemed comical to them until they saw the expression on Asahis face when he turned to face them. He looked so... defeated.

"What did she say after?" their tone shifted back to a more serious one.

"She told me not to worry about it. Then she gave me tea." he tugged at his hair in frustration, and looked up when he heard nothing in response.

"...tea?" Suga questions as if saying 'why is that such a big deal?'

"Peppermint tea in a little thermos, and she drank some of it from the makeshift cup-lid thing." the two other third years realized this must've held some sort of sentimental value for the two of them.

"We just watched the waves and she played some music quietly in the car, because she knew I was upset from practice earlier." he sighs and sits up straight.

-_-_-_-_-

"I, uh, also brought snacks." I pull out a small bag of chips and he looks at it in amusement.

"Ugh, shut up. To be fair, I didn't think that I'd have to drag a mopey friend over to my nightly driving endeavours." I give him the bag to open it. "Fine. I guess I forgot because I was focused on bringing the tea instead."

Leaning the opened bag to me, I carefully pull one out and pop it into my mouth as I continue staring forwards.

"I never thought I'd say this, but ever since that day I asked to eat lunch with you in that empty classroom, and you asked me if I write, I started thinking about the reason why you wrote." he takes a small sip. "I thought, that seems so cool. So I started writing little entries too. I mean, they probably don't hold a candle to your skills, but it helped me out a bit, writing everything out."

I was staring ahead in slight surprise. No one would mention that unless they were truly serious.

"Thank you, y/n."

"I'm glad writing helped you." I smiled genuinely at him for the first time in a while.

He desperately wanted to say, 'You helped me, not writing.' Knowing my observational skills, he assumed I knew what was implied, so he never bothered to correct me.

I rolled the windows down all the way to listen to the noises of the world around us. Maybe it would help relieve some of the silence. I couldn't stand silence at times like these.

Time seemed to speed by as they made small talk, her occasionally making a joke in hopes that Asahi would display that gorgeous smile and infectious laugh of his. She seemed to laugh and smile when he did, so he made sure to keep an eye on her, and he caught the way the corners of her eyes crinkled up. He caught the way her real laugh was higher pitched and much more melodic then when it was forced out of discomfort. He loved seeing that glimmer of joy in her eyes, knowing that she were much too melancholic for a nearly 17 year old girl, but after everything he figured out, there was no way he could blame her.

-_-_-_-_-

"Wow." Daichi stares at Asahi in surprise at how his friend with the meek demeanour described in great detail the nearly two hour long hang out he had the night before.

"At least we're friends, you know?" he tried convincing himself. " That's better than nothing.

Gruelling is the word the Karasuno volleyball team would use to describe the current game. Desperate is the word they would use to describe how badly they wanted to win.

As me and Yachi were holding onto each other as well as our breaths in the huge audience, we couldn't help but be silent along with the rest of everyone when the ball lands on the opponent's court with a loud SMACK!

We had to process it for a second as I saw everyone's jaws slack in shock. They had won, like, really won.

Cheers burst around the stadium, and tears burst out of my eyes. Yachi dragged me down from the bleachers along with her as we both made our way to the court.

They were all hugging and sobbing in pure joy as the two of us ran onto the court, shoes squeaking along with every step. All three managers huddled up in a tight hug, glad we were able to witness such an amazing win.

Once we had congratulated nearly every player, I look around for Asahi, who was staring at the net in near disbelief; the same area he had spiked over just ten minutes ago.

"Hey!" I energetically said, making him crane his head over to see me, beaming.

Her eyes crinkling and shining, just the way he loved it.

I assumed he would still be in the slightest bit of shock, so I just say screw it, and wrapped my arms around his neck. I could feel him frozen for a second, before he wraps his exhausted arms as tight as he could manage without crushing me around my waist.

What came over him at that moment, he doesn't know. Perhaps it's her charming smile, or the way her figure easily wrapped around him in such a genuine way.

He pulled his face away from her neck slowly. Maybe it was the intoxicating scent of her neck that reeled him in. The adrenaline pumping through his veins led him to be more sure of his actions as he got closer,

and closer,

and closer,

and-

He did it. He moved his hands up to my face and passionately pressed his lips against mine, like a man in the desert, me being the water he so desperately needed. I gave in for a moment, before slowly separating, and realizing the weight of what had been done.
