"let's get baking, shall we?"

niki looked up at the girl and nodded. ahnjong nodded as well and grabbed the ingredients. after they had grabbed the things, they grabbed the bowl and put the ingredients in.

minutes of mixing went by, they grabbed a muffin tin, placed the wrappers inside and poured in the batter. "have you done this before?" "i did, secretly. my parents never allowed me to cook something for myself. but they were out with my siblings one time, so i had the opportunity." ahnjong said.

niki nodded. "did you get caught?" he questioned. "no. thankfully, they still didn't know." she smiled. "hey, are you feeling more comfortable around us now?" niki asked. "i actually am. way more than the old household i used to live in." "glad to hear that." he chuckled.

"i have no other choice than to say yes anyway. i can't say that my old house was better." she bubbled. "hey.. do you maybe.. want to go into town tomorrow?" the boy asks hesitantly. "sure!" she answered swiftly. "niki, can i tell you something?" ahnjong looks at him.

he nodded again. "i saw the weirdest thing," she paused. "it's like, sunoo changed his eye color to red, but then back to brown.. was i just dizzy? or hallucinating? i just can't seem to figure out how i saw it." ahnjong put the muffins into the oven and thought back to it.

niki widened his eyes and scoffed. "no way! that literally only exists in vampire movies." "i've never seen vampire movies but i have read vampire novels and i know! it's probably just me reading too many of those which are making me go crazy at this point, thinking that vampires are real." the girl smiled.

"it's okay to imagine that though. i do that too sometimes." he chuckled. "what should we do to kill the time then?" the boy asks. "let's just chat and things.." "alright." niki smiles. "well, uh.." "don't worry ahnjong. you don't have to start a conversation if you don't want to." he reassures.

"i don't have the ability to interact so please start because i really am too stupid for this." she lowered her head, looking at the floor. "hey, don't be disappointed about it. i was like that too." "it's mostly my parents' fault for not letting me commmunicate with others properly..i couldn't even say hello to my siblings. i'd get in trouble for being a 'bug' crawling on someones body."

"that's not good. it's okay though, you have us to talk to now." he assures. "thanks for letting me stay here. i owe you one." she giggled. niki hesitantly pat her head. ahnjong was shocked by the sudden action and turned away as heat covered her face. "you okay?" "i-i'm fine.." she stammered.

jay came into the kitchen and saw the scene, smirking. "what's happening here?" he spoke, leaning against the door frame. "nothing!" ahnjong rapidly answered and let her eyes wander around the place nervously. "i hate it here.." jay chuckled and nodded.

"hey, wanna go into town?" jay suggests. ahnjongs eyes sparkled. "sure! haven't been there in a while. also, where do you get your money from to buy things?" "jake is a part-time barista at a café. he doesn't make much but it's still a bit. and sunghoon works at a clothing store. although i want to work there." jay muttered.

"why don't you then?" "i don't know." jay thought. "i think the muffins are ready, want some?" the boy nodded. she took out the muffin tin carefully with oven mitts and placed it on the counter. "they take a few minutes to cool down." "hey, ahnjong. didn't we plan on going into town tomorrow?" niki pointed out.

"true, but i kind of need new clothes. all of mine were torn and beaten apart." the girl huffed. "alright then. let's go as soon as we finish these muffins!" niki clasped his hands together and smiled. "ahnjong made muffins, get down here before niki, ahnjong and i eat all of them~" jay smirked.

the boys came running downstairs and saw the muffin tins. "WE SMELL MUFFINS!" sunoo yelled. he grabbed one of the muffins out of the muffin tin, taking the wrapper off and stuffing it into his mouth. his cheeks were full and he smiled softly, his eyes formed into crescents. "cutie." ahnjong said out loud, not noticing it herself.

"huh?" sunoo swallowed the muffin and looked at her with wide eyes. "i-i mean-!" "thank you ahnjong!!!" he giggled and stuffed another muffin into his mouth. niki turned his head away and ate his muffin in silence as the others chatted. heeseung seemed to have noticed and smirked, walking up to the younger.

"upset over what?" heeseung read nikis facial expressions and gripped his shoulder. "nothing. i'm fine." "you know that i'm not stupid right? i can read your facial expressions, niki." he sighed. "i'm telling you it's nothing alright? just leave me be." "jealousy—" "shut it!" niki nearly yelled. surprised at himself, niki pursed his lips and grabbed another muffin.

"sunghoon," jay called. sunghoon turned his body to jay and hummed. "we wanted to go into town, y'know grab a few clothes for ahnjong and go grocery shopping." he smiled. sunghoon rolled his eyes. "you guys are NOT taking my money. can't you ask jake for money?" "boy would want to go back to australia with that money, please?"

"i've paid for your shit for the past 6 months. no. get hired or something." he scoffed. "ugh, please? i'll buy you a latte?" sunghoon gave in a few seconds later and slapped the money into his hands. jay flinched and groaned but nodded. "you better get me that latte."

"i'm older than you." "by 8 months." sunghoon pointed out and left with a muffin in hand. "let's get changed and go. also, remind me to get the penguin a latte later on."

"sure thing." ahnjong walked into her room. niki left in silence.
