「AHNJONG」

jake and i were confused. niki slammed his door shut on us, we couldn't even catch a glimpse of him before he entered his room. we stared at each other and gulped at the space in between our faces.

a few inches were left between us. i pulled back slightly and turned red. i could see the faint crimson blush on jakes cheeks as well. "you should go check up on niki, he needs it." jake suggested and stood up.

he sticked his hand out in order for me to grab it and pulled me up. he pat my back one more time before leaving. i knocked on nikis door and waited for him to answer.

however, that answer never came.

once again, i knocked. but there still was no answer.

"niki!" i called with my sore throat. "please open the door.." i sighed. minutes of waiting went by, there still wasn't an answer.

i turned the handle and realized it wasn't locked.

"stupid me" i mumbled and looked at the boy who was currently hugging his knees in the corner.

"stupid me.." the girl muttered under her breath. niki who was hugging his knees tightly in the corner stifled a laugh. "are you okay niki?" her quiet voice queried the boy on the floor.

"that corner must be dirty. get on the bed you silly goose." she giggled and watched as he made his way onto the bed, still not making eye contact. "hey, look me in the eyes." she commanded.

he huffed and looked at her with wine red orbs. the sudden change in color had her gulping down the clump of saliva that had been stuck in her mouth.

"why are you upset?" she asked.

"don't you need some comforting or something? go to jake and tell him how you're feeling." he scoffed at her and stared at his lap.

her eyes ripped wide open at his sudden remark. "what?" ahnjong asked. "go to jake." he murmured again. though, the girl still managed to understand. "are you being ridiculous? why should i go to him if he sent me here? especially to cheer you up."

then, a lightbulb lit up above the girls head.

"are you jealous he was with me?" she snickered. "no..why should i be? we're not even a couple, nor do i have f- feelings for you..." the boy stammered and bit his lip, hoping she wouldn't notice.

"you have a point..that was stupid, sorry." standing up, she mumbled and sighed. "whatever..sit down again, what are you doing standing?" he faced her. ahnjong watched as his red iris vanished and turned back into brown.

"i was about to leave since i thought you needed space," she paused. "i guess not." ahnjong sat back down and stiffened at his sudden gaze. not only did that look in his eyes surprise ahnjong, but it definitely did attract her.

his puma-like eyes pierced through her soul. "you good?" niki asked and waved his hands in front of the girl. ahnjong shook her head, facing reality and nodded. "wanna know why jake comforted me?" she questioned.

niki nodded his head. clearly showing how curious he is.

she took a sharp breath and finally spoke "jay and i fought, in the kitchen. after the quarrel between heeseung and him, there came another one between me and, well, jay."

niki focused on every word and gulped. "did he yell at you?" he asked. "no, he just..said some really harsh things" her voice cracked. the boy hesitated before quickly taking ahnjong into his embrace.

he rubbed her back slowly. she sobbed into his shoulder and inhaled sharply every now and then.

jay walked into the room to check up on the younger, seeing him hug the girl he had scolded earlier. he opened his mouth to say something but before he did, niki cut him off. "don't say anything." the boy spoke, once again in their link.

"why?" the elder asked. "she's vulnerable, mainly because of you." niki scolded and glared. standing by the door frame, jay saw how his eyes slowly turned wine red. "did she tell you?"

"she did. there's nothing you can do about it, except for apologizing and talking with her." the younger informed and stared at his left shoulder. the weeping girl had fallen asleep not too long after bursting into tears.

"how about you take that suggestion and do it when she wakes up?" he smirked. that caused the elder to pinch his nose and sigh. "fine." he insisted and left the both of them be.

in the meantime, niki gently lifted the girl from his shoulder. he slowly let her head fall onto his pillow. after throwing the sheets over her body, he made a little bed on the floor for himself and sighed.

he walked out of the room, closing the door quietly after him and speeded over to jakes door. he knocked on it before entering, seeing the boy write down a few things in a notebook.

"jake." he called. the boy in his bed perked his head up, fixing his glasses that slipped down to the tip of his nose. "what do you need niki?" he tilted his head at the younger male who stood by his door frame.

"why were you comforting ahnjong?" niki asked with a serious expression on his face. "she needed it, are you jealous?"

why is this question constantly asked?

"of course not, whatever. i have some business to take care of in the basement." jake smirked and watched as niki left.

niki skipped his way down the spiral staircase, into the dusty and ancient basement that was cleaned probably a few months or years ago.

he looked up from the floor and saw 3 human figures stand ahead of him. a smirk crept it's way onto his lips.

a person probably in his 20's and two girls who looked alike.

"do you know why you're here?" he licked his lips and smirked. "cat got your tongue?" the boy scoffed at his own joke.

"you made her suffer..." he stepped closer and crouched down to the males face.

"and now you should too."
