Am I more than you bargained for yet?

BENTLEY

"I need the fastest car you have." I say, slamming a wad of cash on the counter.

The flight had taken forever and I wasn't able to sleep throughout either of them. Lucas had sent me a voucher for the boat ride onto Li Galli but I needed to handle the rest of it myself.

That included navigating a country I had never been to before, and trying to communicate with locals.

"Cosa?" The woman on the other side of the counter questions, but I look at her even more cluelessly than she's looking at me.

Fuck me for taking French in high school. What was I thinking?

"Fast car..." I say, playing charades trying to get her to understand me but she laughs instead. She fucking laughs.

"Oh! Gli auto veloce... follow me." She says, her Italian accent thick as she moves around and grabs a pamphlet. I walk closely behind her as we enter the lot for the rental company and I see a few cars to choose from.

Vintage models... sports cars... SUVs... I needed the fastest one here. I look at them all, and thankfully I was knowledgeable enough with cars to discern that my best choice here was the Porsche Boxster. The two seater had a trunk in the front and I knew that I'd be able to drive it down the coast quickly enough to make it for my boat, which would take off in exactly two hours.

"The Porsche." I tell her, and she nods, walking away to retrieve the keys.

She gives me a paper which is thankfully in English and I sign the contract that I'd return the car to one of their locations. I pay the down payment in cash and get in the car, loading my shit into the front trunk but retrieving the gun with the silencer from the checked bag, tucking it into my glove compartment and taking off quickly.

I lower the roof, feeling the sun against my scalp and I smile at the feeling. I loved convertibles and I hate that I don't have my own... maybe I'll invest in one someday.

This would give me time to distract myself from realizing that I had just left home on impulse for the first time ever. I had never traveled alone and I rejected any offers to go places if it wasn't to go see Rumer. The last time I even left California was to see Rumer in Arizona for that race Niall was in about a year or two ago.

I'd also get enough time to consider what exactly I was planning on doing. I wasn't a fighter by any means. I could probably punch down a few guys but I wasn't trained in any way. If they got close enough to be physical, then I was screwed.

The farthest I had gotten within my plan was the fact that I brought a few long range guns from Harry's place that I had to check in with the rest of my luggage. The place they were keeping Harry in was in the basement of some restaurant. Lucas was able to get back to me regarding the exact location and as long as I could get myself underground and shoot down people without being noticed, I'd be fine.

At least, I hope.

The long range guns would be useful if they were outside, but I wouldn't need them today. I had never shot one of those before, either. Hopefully Harry would be able to teach me, or at least shoot it if it came to that.
