Bokuto smiled, staring at his phone.

Tendou walked in. "Hellooooo!"

Bokuto glanced up and then away. He sighed. "Um… hi."

"How're you?"

"I'm fine." Bokuto mumbled.

"Eh. You sound all depressed and stuff. You good?"

Bokuto blinked a few times. He frowned at him. "You do know I actually have depression, right?"

Tendou's eyes widened. "Oh my God. I'm going to shut my mouth. Damn I need a fucking filter when I talk."

Bokuto shrugged. "It's fine. Everyone talks like that around me so I don't mind."

Tendou nodded.

"Hey can you tell me what happened to Akaashi?"

"Hm?"

"He said you needed to stop with him and that Ushijima needed to help. What happened?"

Tendou stood fully and yawned. "Well. He started crying because he wanted you. It's really hard for an omega to have sex with another alpha when they're mated so I had to get Wa-kun to calm him down."

Bokuto turned off his phone. "Did you put hickeys on him too…?"

"Nope. Well. Depends. Where were they?"

"His shoulders."

"Nope. Not me. Or Wa-kun. He hates leaving marks. I only leave them on the neck, thighs, and back. The shoulders are too weird for me."

"Ah… weird."

****

"Tell me where the hickeys came from, please. If you're having another relationship just tell me."

Akaashi furrowed his brows. "Why would I cheat on you?" Akaashi questioned.

"I don't know! That's the thing!"

Akaashi flinched. "Don't raise your voice."

Bokuto pulled at his own hair. "God… why do you have those?!"

"Because of you. You gave me hickeys. For God's sake… we had this discussion already."

"That wasn't me! I don't remember that!"

"Koutarou. There's literally new ones on me." Akaashi took his shirt off and leaned forward. "Look. I haven't left the house this morning."

Bokuto stared. "I don't remember it."

"Because I didn't wear a shirt last night and when you fall asleep sometimes you kiss my shoulders. It leaves little marks on them. I wouldn't ever cheat on you…" Akaashi's lip quivered. "W-why did you yell at me?" He started crying, quiet.

Bokuto stared, guilt flooding through him. He reached forward, trying to pull his mate close. "Keiji… I didn't mean to make you cry… sweetheart I-"

Akaashi got up and walked out, still crying.

Bokuto started crying after that, realizing what he'd done. He locked the bedroom door and went into the bathroom so Akaashi couldn't hear.

In the living room, Akaashi was still crying, confused. Bokuto hadn't ever seriously accused him of cheating before. Even his worst mood swings didn't make him do that.

He never yelled at Akaashi either.

Akaashi sniffed and headed off to get in his car and went to his second job, wanting to forget.

When Akaashi got home with Emiko around seven that night, there was no one there. Bokuto's car was gone too. He sighed, thinking maybe he'd just gone to the gym to make himself feel better.

"I work two jobs, gave you a kid, cook, clean, take care of you, and you can't bother to say if you'll be gone for an hour." Akaashi set Emiko down in her highchair.

"Mama!"

"Yes princess, mama." The ravenette mumbled. He took out a bowl and put soft carrots and cauliflower in it. "Here."

Emiko put her hands in the bowl before stuffing the veggies into her mouth.

Akaashi yawned. "Hm. I wish I was a baby again…"

He remembered the constant growling and pinching and frowned. "Well. Maybe a teen. That's when I met daddy. He would steal me away and we'd stay up late sharing secrets and cuddling."

Emiko hummed, stuffing another vegetable into her mouth.

"You can barely even understand me. I'll shut up."

"Banana!"

Akaashi sighed. He watched her eat, making sure she wouldn't choke. After she finished and he bathed her, putting her in bed after, he curled up on the couch.

His phone clock signaled that it was eight thirty now. Usually Bokuto would say something if he'd be this late.

Akaashi called Kuroo, worried.

"Hey! Hey!"

Akaashi shifted. "Have you seen Koutarou today?"

"Nope."

"Ah… has anyone seen him?"

"I don't think so."

Akaashi's brows furrowed. "He's supposed to be home right now. I've already put Emiko to bed…"

"Suspicious, suspicious."

"Very."

"I'll call him. Hang on."

Akaashi waited for Kuroo to call back, biting his nails. When the older male did, there was no sign of Bokuto. Akaashi called Bokuto instead and the call was immediately cut off.

Bokuto had hung up on him?!

He tried texting but no response came either. He started to panic, fearing the worst.

"K-koutarou don't leave me alone like this. Please…"

****

Two months later Akaashi was laying on his kitchen floor, crying again. He'd gone into heat while he was asleep and his whole body was surging with pain. Being alone, in the summer, without his mate and in heat took it's toll on him.

Bokuto still wasn't back and he'd tried filing a missing person's report but the police told him to wait.

Waiting was the only thing he had.

Akaashi reached for the sink but fell, going back to the floor. Again he was reminded of his teens where he'd be locked up with nothing to help ease his pain.

God even thinking about that made him upset.

He managed to get his phone and call Sugawara. It went to voicemail though and he just laid there.

If Bokuto wouldn't come home and had left, Akaashi needed to learn to be more careful. He needed to learn to be alone again.
