Akaashi sighed, unlocking his front door. He expected nothing but his messy house and possibly crying Emiko. "Koutarou! I'm home!"
Bokuto turned around the corner to the kitchen. He grinned. "Hey! Hey! Hey! I'm just finishing up in here. Go ahead and go change."
Akaashi put his keys on the hook next to the door. He looked over, confused. The living room was spotless. He went to his room to change out of his work clothes. His room was spotless too. And it smelled really nice?
He headed back into the kitchen to see Emiko in her highchair, playing with a rattle. Bokuto turned and grinned. "I made dinner!"
"What did you make?"
"We didn't have what you usually like so I got bok choy and made shrimp dumplings and I even remembered how to properly make noodles so you could have those too!" Bokuto turned to Emiko, who was now listening, curious. "I'll get her's in a sec."
"What are you going to feed her?" Akaashi questioned.
"Rice and egg curry. No, it's not spicy. And it's safe. I even asked Suga. After he yelled at me but it was asked."
Akaashi nodded. He looked at the fridge. It had been wiped down. And the cereal boxes on top of it were organized by color. "How much of the house did you clean?"
"Well I cleaned up the living room, which was super easy after washing dishes. Then the laundry room cause your basket was overflowing. Then the hall bathroom."
Bokuto stopped to reach in the fridge. He pulled out a container.
"Then I made sure you'd cleaned up the guest room cause you probably used it while I was gone. I changed the sheets in there. I cleaned up the toys in Emmy's room. Then I cleaned up our bathroom and made our bed again. I also took the dirty clothes into the laundry room. They're washing right now. I didn't mess with the pantry cause you hate when I mess with it. After that I vacuumed and cleaned in here."
Akaashi stared at him. "You didn't need to do all of that…"
"I kinda liked it!" Bokuto stared at Akaashi. He frowned. "Are you mad at me for doing it?"
"No. I'm not." Akaashi smiled. "Thank you."
"You're smiling!" Bokuto turned to Emiko. He picked her up and brought her to Akaashi. "Mama's smiling! Isn't that great Emmy?"
"Mama!"
Akaashi took her carefully. "Hi princess…"
Bokuto smiled. "I'm gonna finish up, okay?"
"Okay." Akaashi sat at the dining table and held Emiko, rubbing her back and humming to her. She held on, giggling.
Bokuto finished and set a bowl down for both him and Akaashi. Emiko was put back in her chair where she was fed by Akaashi. He was eating as well of course, genuinely liking the food Bokuto had cooked. It tasted amazing.
Maybe he needed to make the chore wheel again to make sure he got good amounts of the other male's cooking.
"Hey Keiji?"
"Hm?"
"Do you think it's weird for mates to get married?"
"It's basically legal documentation of being mated along with a name change. Not that odd." He yawned and wiped Emiko's cheek. "Why?"
"Just wondering."
"Are you trying to ask me to marry you?"
"Not quite. I'm trying to decide if I should but I like just being Akaashi and Bokuto."
Akaashi reached across the table and held Bokuto's hand. "I like it too. But if we change it we'll still always be Akaashi and Bokuto, even if it's not legal."
Bokuto hummed. "Right."
Emiko whined and started to reach into her bowl. Akaashi hurried to stop her and continue feeding her. "Whew…"
Bokuto laughed. "At least she knows where it is."
"Right."
Bokuto smiled, chin resting in his palm. "You look really nice today Keiji."
Akaashi looked up at him. "Thank you. You do too."
Bokuto leaned over and kissed his forehead.
"Why're you suddenly being so affectionate and helping?"
"Because I love you." Bokuto said, serious.
Akaashi blinked. "I know. You aren't tired or anything?"
"Nope!"
Akaashi stood, taking up the bowls. "Okay. Come on."
Bokuto got up and headed over to the dishwasher, opening it. "What're we doing?"
"Mm. Well. We're going to cuddle on the couch until Emiko falls asleep. Then we'll go in our room and have our own alone time." Akaashi lifted Emiko up and patted her back.
"Um… not like…" Bokuto nodded, signaling somewhat what he meant. "Cause I don't…"
"I wasn't saying anything like that."
"Okay good…"
Akaashi tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
"We'll talk later." Bokuto mumbled.
"Okay?" Akaashi went into the living room and brought out two blankets. One was a light baby blanket that he wrapped Emiko in, holding her carefully.
"Hey hey hey I got her a bottle." Bokuto headed over and sat down.
Akaashi snuggled against him. "Thank you."
"Mhmm." Bokuto kissed Akaashi's forehead. "I love you."
"I love you too." Akaashi looked up and smiled.
Bokuto moved his glasses off of him and kissed him. "Did you have a good day at work?"
"It wasn't that bad."
"Good." He put his glasses back on him.
"Why do you always take my glasses off when you kiss me now?"
"I don't wanna smudge them." Bokuto chuckled.
Akaashi laughed. "I love you."
Emiko whined. "Mama…"
Akaashi looked down and smiled. "Hi princess." He put her on his chest and rubbed her back. "Its okay. I've got you and Daddy's here now too. Its okay Emiko."
Emiko relaxed. Bokuto leaned over and kissed her head. "I love you Emmy."
Emiko sat up slightly and whined.
Bokuto rubbed her head with a finger. He eased her back down. "It's okay."
"Mm…"
Akaashi closed his eyes for a moment, head dropping slightly. He startled back awake and groaned. "Sorry…"
"Ah. It's okay. You must be sleepy." Bokuto eased him over and covered both of them in the bigger blanket. He turned the TV on a soft volume. "Just relax, okay?"
"I should be okay-"
"Nope, nope, nope you just fell asleep for a moment. I'm not gonna make you stay awake but I'll make you relax."
Akaashi furrowed his brows. Bokuto was trying to make things okay between them even though Akaashi was okay now. "Alright, alright. I'll go to sleep. But when I wake up I make you breakfast. No objections."
"Deal." Bokuto eased closer and took Akaashi's glasses off, putting them on the coffee table.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
Akaashi closed his eyes. He started drifting off, feeling Bokuto's fingers run through his hair. It was okay now.
