"what are you looking at kav?"

"huh? oh what nothing." i said turning off my phone.

"it's not nothing why were you looking at google maps? were you gonna go somewhere?" mariana pressed.

"no. i was just... looking for pretty lookouts in the area." i stuttered.

"cap. is it a boy?" she smiled at me.

"huh? what no. what boy would i be talking to right now mari like i said it's noth-" i cut myself off as she picked up my phone and i lunged toward her trying to grab it.

"what are you hiding from me kaviaaaa" she said squealing.

"nothing mar just give me my phone-" i said as she ran into the bathroom and locked the door.

"MARIANA!! open the door!" i shouted banging on the bathroom door. it went quiet.

"kav." she said in a serious tone.

"what?"

"why are you looking at routes to new jersey and nyc?"

"uh.." fuck. "..just thinking of where i wanna go in the future i guess."

she opened the door slowly. "who's address is that?" she asked showing me my phone screen.

"um my sister's." i said quietly.

"your sister lives in new york city? this is in new jersey. why do you keep lying to me? what are you trying to hide?" she said staring at me.

"nothing, mar. it's nothing. it's just a friends house that i met online okay. i'm not hiding anything. do you want pizza?"

she stared at me for a few moments and it took everything in me not to break eye contact. she took a deep breath, "yeah. pepperoni. and tell your dad to get breadsticks."

"your phone keeps buzzing kav."

i stopped laughing and glanced at it. "it's not important."

she picked it up and unlocked it. "mattia's spam?" she questioned.

"huh? oh yeah i guess." i said throwing away my plate and taking a bite of her pizza.

"hey!" she said slapping my hand away. "there's more in the box don't eat mine."

i laughed and picked up the remote to look for a movie.

"are you gonna go to his meet and greet? he's coming to missouri you know." she said nudging me.

"um, no." i said laughing a little. "why would i waste my money on that? i'm not spending $100 to see some toilet licking tiktok boy. call me when harry styles comes to town." i said smiling. "do you wanna watch a scary movie?"

"wow, kavia, what an actress you are. it's obvious you like him. and no i want a rom-com."

"i don't like him. the notebook?"

"his notifications that keep popping up on your phone say otherwise."

"ugh shut up mar!" i said laughing and pushing her side. "he's not even coming to our area."

"okay and? it's like an hour away at most. you know you want to go you're just making up excuses to pretend you're not obsessed with him." she said clicking her tongue and smiling.

i huffed. "you know what."

"what?" she said giggling.

"we're in a pandemic they probably aren't coming and when they do i'll have forgotten he ever existed."

"hah. wanna bet?"

i scoffed. "sure. $10 i won't even remember him in 2 months." i said smiling.

"you're on." she said returning the smile. "this is gonna be an easy $10."

i laughed. "we'll see about that. so the notebook yes or no?"

"that's more rom than com. and you only want to watch it because it's harry's favorite."

"so what?" i said laughing and pushing her off the bed.

"YOURE GONNA REGRET THAT KAV!" i heard as she jumped on top of me.
