kavia pov

my eyes grew wide as well and i turned my head to look back in the direction of mattia, only to see him walking slowly over to our car.

i started panicking internally. "what did she say?!"
i whispered turning to mari, trying to act like we weren't suspicious.

"uh.. um, she uh, said 'do you want to tell me why the fuck you're in jersey and not at kavia's house?'" mariana said looking at me nervously.

"shit." i said leaning my head against the seat. i glanced out the window to see mattia almost right next to the car now.

"what do we do??" i whispered quietly to mariana.

"i don't know kav! you're the reason we're here!" she whisper shouted back.

he stopped right next to my window and looked in. we made eye contact through the glass and he was so close. my heart was beating way faster than usual.

we kept staring at each other for a few seconds before he brought his hand up and knocked his knuckles against the window softly.

he stepped back slightly as i turned the key in the ignition before pressing the button to roll the window down.

"can i help you?" i said quietly, choking on my words.

he scoffed a little, at least that's what it looked like. "i just wanted to make sure everything was okay." he said looking past me at mariana for a second and then back to me.

"everything's fine." mariana spoke up from next to me. i nodded after her.

his eyes shifted between us again before they locked on me, again. i never felt more nervous in my life, but in a good way?

"why are you sitting in a parked car at 5 am then?" he questioned further. damn, somebody doesn't know how to mind their own business.

i looked to mariana unsure of what to say, but she was already looking at me. she shook her head slightly and i let out a deep breath.

"just teens, driving around. having fun, you know."
i said faking a smile and looking at my hands.

"mhm." he said. "it's just kinda weird, you know. plus i could've sworn i saw this same car parked outside my house earlier, and that's kind of suspicious. don't you think?" he said a little more edge in his voice now.

i thought for a second before replying, "you think we're stalking you or something?" i scoffed looking ahead. mariana laughed slightly and i shot her a look.

"i wasn't saying that but you can't blame me for wondering." he put his hands up defensively.

"why do you think people would stalk you? you have someone looking for you or something?" i said with a slight attitude, almost forgetting who i was talking to.

he scoffed again, "look, i'm too tired for this. are you a fan? you want a selfie or something? because if you don't leave i'm going to call the cops." his cold eyes didn't leave mine.

"are you serious? a fan? of what?" i said almost laughing. "do you have some hidden talent other than being psycho? look we're just visiting and got lost alright so we we're sitting here looking for directions. we were here earlier because this neighborhood was a shortcut to my sisters apartment. sorry for bothering you but i don't know who you are and i'm not a fan." i said clearly, keeping eye contact the whole time. i shifted in my seat and saw mariana looking at me in shock of how i just lied through my teeth. i glanced her way making her fix her face, hoping mattia didn't notice.
