kavia's pov

it was 11 am and i was starting to get tired again. i had driven from 10-3 while mariana slept and she drove from 3-7 while i slept. i saw her stir awake and decided to pull off at the next exit.

"what time is it?" she asked rubbing her eyes.

"11:06," i replied getting off the highway.

"we gonna switch?" she asked sitting up and getting a drink of water.

"yeah but only for like an hour or two. the gps said we should be there in about 3 and a half hours."

"wow. i can't believe we drove this far for this long. i didn't think we could do it." she laughed. i smiled and kept my eyes on the road. "has your dad texted yet?"

i sucked in a sharp breath. "i haven't checked. i turned off all notifications before we left."

"ah. he probably did."

"yeah he's definitely awake by now. i'm scared to check."

"did you turn your location off?" she asked alarmingly.

"yeah and deleted find my iphone and all that. but i told him i'm going to alana's anyway." i said shrugging.

"do you think he's gonna come and get us?" she asked nervously.

"i don't know. i hope not." i pulled up to another gas station attached to a breakfast place. "shit i forgot to tell alana we're coming." i said pulling out my phone.

alana <3

kavia: i'm coming to see you

alana <3: what? right now?
alana <3: by yourself?
alana <3: kavia ??

kavia: me and mar are on our way
kavia: we'll be there in a few hours

alana <3: mariana's with you? does dad know you're coming?

kavia: kinda
kavia: don't worry i'll explain when we get there

alana <3: should i call dad?

kavia: i don't know
kavia: look if you do talk to him please tell him not to come get us
kavia: we've driven the whole way fine switching off and we'll be there in like 6 hours
kavia: i really want to see you and get away, i know we're gonna get in trouble but please help me lana

alana <3: okay okay
alana <3: i'll tell him i know that you're coming and that i'll drive you back in a few days if that's okay

kavia: thank you

i decided to check to see if i had any messages from my dad.

dad ❤️: How far are you?                9:46 am
dad ❤️: I'm worried about you, please answer the phone.                10:29 am

5 missed calls from grandma ❤️.

jaden 🤮: get the key when you come home and be quiet i'm going to sleep               4:32 am
jaden 🤮: bro you never came home last night wtf ? 9:32 am
jaden 🤮: where tf are you dad is flipping out 10:19 am

kavia: i picked up mari and now we're driving to new york city to see alana 😳

jaden 🤮: wtf? are you actually fucking stupid

kavia: stfu and worry about yourself
kavia: is dad gonna make me come home?

jaden 🤮: idk. after he woke up and saw you were gone he texted you and called grandma, she came over and started freaking out. dad's on the phone with lana now

kavia: i really wanna stay for awhile jaden please don't let him make me come home

jaden 🤮: as if there's anything i could do
jaden 🤮: good luck kav

kavia: if dad asks if i texted you say no

jaden 🤮: why

kavia: if he calls the police or something they could see my location

jaden 🤮: no promises
jaden 🤮: i'm not going to jail
jaden 🤮: and i doubt dads gonna call the cops
jaden 🤮: but you should probably call him

i sighed and locked my phone.

"what's wrong?" mariana questioned looking at me. "your dad texted?"

"yeah. i told alana we're coming and jaden said she's on the phone with my dad now. she said she's gonna convince him to let us stay a few days before she drives us back."

"okay. that seems good. i mean either way we knew we were gonna get in trouble when we get back so hopefully we at least get a few days of fun first?" she said smiling a little. that's definitely the mariana i know.

i laughed a little. "true." i said nodding slightly. "look how about we pee, stretch, get gas and some breakfast, and get going. i'm going to see if there's a phone i can call my dad on inside."

"why can't you call him on yours?" she questioned.

"i don't want him to be able to track where i last was." i said opening the car door.

omg hey longer chapterrr 😋 jaden is kavia's younger brother if you forgot. this ended kinda abruptly but i didn't know how else to end it and it was pretty long. i might try and write a flash forward later tonight but i wanted to get this published. hope y'all are having a good day :)
