"kav?" mariana said pulling me out of my trance as i turned down the music slightly. it was 12:45 pm, we had just crossed the border into new jersey.

"yeah?" i questioned keeping my eyes focused on the road.

"are you gonna tell me where the gps is taking us or is it a surprise? because i can clearly see it says new jersey and not new york city." she said with a slightly pissed off tone.

"uh... i hadn't really decided yet." i said swallowing the lump in my throat.

she scoffed sitting back in her seat more.

"if i tell you, you're going to think i'm crazy."

"i already think you're crazy." she said, her tone still serious.

i smiled slightly. do i tell her the truth? that i put tiktok famous mattia polibio's address into my gps and that's where we're going? it's not like we're going to stalk him or talk to him or anything. i just wanna drive by i guess, accidentally run into him. okay the last part was a joke... unless it actually happens.

"it's mattia polibio's address." i said quietly.

"huh?" she said sitting up again.

"mattia... polibio's... address?" i spoke a little louder.

"why are we driving to MATTIA POLIBIO'S HOUSE KAV?" she asked looking at me like i was crazy.

"uh.. um.. we're not." i felt my cheeks get hot. "i just...uh we're just gonna um... drive by." i said looking out the window.

she started laughing. like really really laughing. hard.

"what?" i said fighting the urge to laugh with her.

"you're fucking crazy kavia."

i took one hand off the steering wheel and shoved her. "shut up. we're not gonna even see him just take some pics or something. maybe we can steal some grass or a rock and sell it online." i said smirking.

"people would buy it?" she asked seriously.

i looked over at her and laughed. "i was joking mar."

"oh." she said rolling her eyes. "damnit i was hoping we could make money."

"we can say it's charli d'amelio's." i joked laughing again.

she laughed with me and we turned the music back up.

an hour and some fast food later, we sat in a store parking lot a few streets from mattia's house.

"so what exactly are we gonna do kav?" mariana said turning to look at me.

"i don't know. let's just drive by, i just figured since we have to go through jersey to get to nyc why not you know?"

"yeah why not stalk a famous tiktoker just for fun." she mocked me, turning away slightly.

"oh my god we're not stalking him mar. did i not say just drive by? we could know anyone in the neighborhood." i said jokingly while rolling my eyes.

"yeah but we don't." she stated, laughing. "plus i thought you didn't like him remember?"

"i don't."

"then why are we going to drive by his house?"

"you know what nevermind let's just go to alana's-"

"oh NOW you don't wanna go nah we're going you got me interested. maybe we'll see alejandro and kairi too." she said smirking.

"oh my god." i said shaking my head. "wait."

"what?" she said looking alarmed.

"we look rough." i said laughing at her expression.

she looked down at herself than back at me. "you're not wrong."

"i showered before i came to pick you up, so i'm not dirty, but after driving for 13 hours straight i don't necessarily look good." i thought out loud.

"i showered before you picked me up too. so basically we're going to have to change in a gas station bathroom?"

"or walmart." i said laughing again.
