"you wanna get some food?" i asked mariana as i saw an exit sign coming up.

"duh." she said smiling and putting her phone down. "have you really thought about this kav?" she asked looking at me.

"mostly." i said glancing at her out of the corner of my eye.

"do you have enough money on your card? where are we gonna stay?"

"yes and i brought one of my dads cards too. we're gonna stay with my sister. don't worry mar, i've been thinking about this for weeks." i said pulling off the highway.

"okay. i just want to make sure." she said looking out the window.

"okay. now come on let's have fun before my dad realizes i'm gone." i said laughing and turning up the music.

"sonic hits different when you're driving to new york city alone at 17." mariana said laughing and throwing her burger wrapper in the trash.

i laughed and put another fry in my mouth. "you should go to sleep."

"why? it's only 12."

"yeah but we're gonna need to switch at some point. i can't drive 15 hours without sleeping." i said giggling (that's a weird word but i already said laughing like three times).

"thaaaats why you told me to bring my drivers license." she said putting her seat back and grabbing a blanket.

"wow you're real smart mari." i said shaking my head and laughing.
