V2 Chapter 2

--A few days later.

Schneider was standing in a room that anyone would want to avoid, the Throne Room.

「Are you still unable to confirm Rhonya's safety?」

「I'm fairly certain she's been hidden away by Ronard-shi.」

「I'm telling you to confirm it with your own eyes, Schneider.」

The King's piercing voice reverberated through the room. This is the current king, Schneider's uncle. Ever since the engagement was dissolved, Schneider has been reprimanded numerous times by this uncle.

「Geez... In a fight amongst children, Rhonya was forced to leave school and even went missing. Why can't you take this issue more seriously.」

「Rhonya is in the wrong.」

「Even if she did something wrong, this is not how you treat someone you love! To think you dissolved the engagement in front of the whole school!」

Schneider got a shock when his mild-mannered uncle raised his voice.

「Schneider, don't tell me that you've forgotten. In the first place, you were the one who wanted to make this verbal agreement official. And after dating for seven years, without even discussing with anyone, you just cancelled the engagement --as your relative, I am ashamed.」

Schneider frowned and lowered his head. Although this is his uncle, this is also the king of a nation. Even if he disagreed with him, he could not refute so he just had to suck it up.
The King could only shake his head in disapproval at his nephew who refuses to reflect on his actions.

「If you don't hurry, she'll be taken away by other men」

「......Sorry?」

「......」

The King was even more surprised when Schneider did not get his advice.

「I'm sure you must have realised. She has many admirers. I hope you don't become a foolish man that let such a good girl go.」

「......」

Being labelled as a foolish man, Schneider could not help but furrowed his brows. He did notice, but it doesn't anymore. The King sighed when he saw Schneider's expression.

「Schneider, don't you know why nothing happened in the seven years that you spent with Rhonya? It's because both of you didn't give the opposite sex a single chance to come between the two of you. When a man and a woman are in a relationship, they need to take care to not make their partner feel insecure.」

The King spoke slowly as if he was counselling Schneider.

「When you see Rhonya interact with men other than you, have you ever felt uncomfortable or jealous? You didn't, did you? That's because she guarded herself well, so other men couldn't approach her. Just think for a bit. She only thought of you.」

When Schneider heard the King's words he wanted to interrupt and say that she was the cause of this. However, the King was one step faster than him.

「Speaking of which, it's you-- you are the culprit, Schneider.」

The King felt even more enraged when Schneider seemed to be at a loss.

「You were going to be married soon, yet you got close to another lady. Isn't this the root cause? But all you do is push the blame onto her and got her kicked out of the school. By doing so, she would be abandon by her family. Even though you should know this better than anyone else, don't you think what you did was too much?」
