V3 Chapter 1.3

2 Endless unrequited love

It was some time before, when I was helping out the Rotos with their favor.

That day, as always, I was leisurely having breakfast with the Rotos after finishing preparations to open the shop.

The breakfast menu was made using avocado. The Rotos who cultivated fruits in the spirit forest brought some superbly delicious avocados. I cut the avocado to make it easier to be eaten, plated it and lavishly poured some sweet milk. Sweet and melts in the mouth, delicious.

The Rotos looked satisfied with a big smile on their faces. Finishing the salad we made together, and thank you for the food.

After Handing over the cake to the Rotos and seeing them off, I opened business for the day.

Just shortly after opening hours, Café Mattari is always busy. The seats are quickly filled with customers yearning for a cup of coffee or breakfast, and the day pass by in a blink of an eye.

Although there isn't many tables available, the customers would call out to each other to share them. There are also some customers who pass by for a cup of coffee before starting work, and I would quickly serve them.

"Rhonya-chan's coffee definitely is the best. I can't start work without this"

Most of the male customers who come during this time of the day would say so. I'm glad that they like it.

"Thank you very much" I made a smile and a bow.

After nine in the morning and approaching lunch time, there would be more female customers. Most of them would order cakes. There are also plenty of customers who would order take out,so it was busy enough to make my eyes turn around, but the smiles and words of 'delicious' that I hear is the best remedy, and they are all good people as well.

Gradually the flood of customers start to calm down, and the regulars who ordered cakes would come. Sally-san, the blonde woman with a lily hair acessory, then her close friends Katie-san and Reine-san. A group of three ladies currently looking for a wonderful encounter with a partner.

It seems they are holding a party with some coeval men from the neighboring town, and came to buy some cake. They did invite me to join in, but I declined by saying I have work to do.

Handing over the cake I had prepared before hand, the three made a happy cheer.

"Rhonya-tenchou's cake definitely boosts the atmosphere!"

"And if we have her tea, it would have been perfect"

I started thinking about what Sally-san and Reine-san said.

A customer who bought cake for takeout had previously also said something similar. Though I did recommend tea which would suit the respective cakes, but they hoped they could get some of the tea from my shop.

Although it is possible to takeout coffees and teas, over time it will turn cold and its flavor would diminish. The ones I offer in the shop uses ingredients which comes from the spirit's forest, so it would be difficult for the customers to obtain the same ingredient.

It would be possible to put the tea leaves on sale for the customers to brew at home, but I would want to put in an extra effort into it, and let the customers enjoy a good cup of tea out of the shop.

Alright. My next homework would be to put up tea leaves for sale.

After seeing off Sally-san and the others, I brewed tea and brought it to my seat by the counter. Taking a sip of the sweet and mildly sourish raspberry tea. Letting out a breath of relief, I looked into the teacup.

Among the customers who came in the morning, quite a few would buy a cake for their afternoon snack. Most of the customers would avoid frequenting the shop in the afternoon where the members of the DemiMercSquad would arrive. So I resolved to add in some extra effort to allow the customers deliciously enjoy a cup of tea.

Deep in thought, suddenly a light of magic circle appeared in the middle of the shop. From within, 'Aye ayee', such voices could be heard, and the Rotos were lined up in lines of three. Their hands and feet moved in sync, a splendid march it was.

"Good afternoon"

Seeing how lovable it was and naturally making a smile, I squatted down and greeted them.

Stopping just right in front of me and smiling back, they started looking around restlessly. Then putting together their small hands, they tilted their head and made a pose asking for a favor.

This pose means that they need a favor from me to help out take care of the lotus flower garden.

I decided to visit the lotus flower garden for the sake of the Rotos who helps me out in the shop everyday. I then placed a plank stating the shop is closed by the door.

"Well then, which garden are we visiting this time?"

Although they live in the spirit forest, they still take care of the lotus flower gardens located here and there.

As I ask while squatting down, the Rotos all pointed their hand to the east, which reminds me of the closest lotus flower garden located east from here. Though I said closest, it is located out of this country's border.

The Rotos who scaled up my dress started flapping their hands up and down as if asking to take them there. After giving a nod, I carefully stood up to make sure the Rotos would not fall.

*clack, as I tread the heel of my shoe on the floor, filled it with magic power which draws a magic circle on the floor. A cluster of light started swelling out and enveloped me and the Rotos.

The next moment, a view filled with fields of blooming lotus flowers spread. The flowers were red and purple, and swayed along the gust of wind coming from below the cliff. The flower petals flying around filled the sky blue clear sky. The wind was refreshing, and so I slowly took deep breaths.

Then, the night sky-colored ribbon which was tied to my hair entangled and flew away with the wind. Looking towards the direction the ribbon flew to, I could see someone caught it.

I didn't expect someone to be there. Shocked, I looked to the person and was even more surprised.

"I've been waiting for you, Rhonya"
