CHAPTER FORTY-THREE: LATER

ADELAIDE'S

Five years later...

"The ships arrived already your majesty." I heard a military police said. Historia was talking while I do the listening.

"Is that so?" The soldier nodded.

"Lady Kiyomi is also with them. She said she will be heading here." I looked with surprise.

"Lady Kiyomi's back already?" Historia looked at me.

"Is there something wrong Adelaide?" I looked confused.

"In my vision she was going to be here next week. Maybe something came up." I said.

"Could be. Are the scouts with them?" She asked me and I nodded.

"Jean and Armin went with her to escort Yelena. They should be back here with her to give us news." I answered. We're on our way to the train now to meet lady kiyomi in the port.

As I sat next to Historia inside the train, I came to reminisce about old times.

I cant believe that it has already been five years. Since that day...

Of course with the help of Doctor Jaeger's journal, we came across to the full origin of titans and this world. Apparently, we arent the ones inside the walls who are still living upon this day.

And because of my vision and Eren's father's memories, we were able to ambush ships that would attempt to throw away eldian patriots in our shoreline.

Almost everything in Paradis changed, except me.

"Princess Adelaide, are you alright?" Floch asked me. I smiled and nodded.

"Of course. I just rembered something. Thats all." I alibied.

"Captain Braun told me to tell him whenever you space out. Is it something terrible or no-"

"Im fine. You dont have to worry." I smiled politely and so he is.

While on the train sipping a cup of warm milk my eyes came across to what Historia drinks.

I cant believe it's been five years since I last drank tea.

"Since Lady Kiyomi is here, you can rest tomorrow Addie." Historia said. I looked at her and she smiled at me.

"Lately you've been very busy and Im sure you want to spend some time with him." I smiled

"Thank you, Historia. But is it really okay for me to take the day off tomorrow? The royal family will have a town talk tomorrow-"

"Me and your father and Hange can handle it. Also Premier Zackly and commander dock will accompany me. You dont have to worry about anything." I smiled and thanked once again before sipping my cup of milk again.

Just a couple of moments we reached the port. As expected, The Azumbito Ship is docked and loads of cargos were imported. As we went out of the train, we headed to the port office where Lady Kiyomi was waiting for us.

"Great to see you again,your majesty, your highness." I bowed my head for grattitude and appreciation.

"Likewise, Miss Kiyomi. Anyways, how's the other side?" What my cousin meant about the other side is Marley and the other countries.

"I heard that the noble family which holds the war hammer will be conducting a speech theater next week. No signs of the founder also." I sighed. It's been two weeks since Eren left and went in the other side.

"Maybe Arlert and Kistein will find him." We nodded.

"How about Zeke and the other warriors?"

" They are acting a bit normal or so. They won a war against other countries and witnesses said they have another type of titan. Info stops there. Everyone aside from the Marleyans in that vicinity died." I closed my eyes. Hearing some peole got killed makes me sick.

A new type of titan?

"Even if they havent done a move to go here, we should be ready. Im not comfortable with the thought that there is a new type of titan." I said.

"Still no visions?" Mikasa asked me. I shooked my head.

"Thats alright. You should probably rest now. Go back to Sina, he needs you there." I smiled at Historia and held her hand as a sign of my grattitude before leaving.

Mikasa offered to escort me as I go back inside the walls but I told her Ill be fine, telling that Historia needs her there. Besides, Ill be taking the train so it wont be dangerous unlike traveling through a horse.

A few more minutes, I have arrived in Sina. I went inside the palace and went to his room. He was still asleep when I left.

"He's awake now, Addie. He was looking for you a while ago" I smiled and thanked Rene.

As I walk going to the room, I can hear laughters and giggles inside. I went in and saw two men having a chat. One who's listening to the one who acts like an adult. They both saw me and he ran as I they noticed my presence.

"Mummy!" My tiredness worn off when I saw him clinging in my arms with that smile on his face.

"Good morning baby! How's your sleep?" I asked him as I sat in the floor mat so he could rest in my lap.

"I slept well, Mom. When I woke up you werent there but Papa Reiner came in and brought me some cookies!" I smiled at my son and glared at Reiner who nervously laughs.

"Is that so? Did you have breakfast first?" I was looking at my child but Reiner knew the question was for him.

"A-Actually I-"

"Papa Reiner told me to eat it after we eat pancakes and eggs Mom. Thats why before you enter I begged him to let me have a bite." I smiled at him and I heard Reiner sighing maybe in relief.

"Mom Im not a baby anymore. Even Papa Reiner calls me big guy now!" I chuckled and kissed his cheek.

"Big guys dont wet their beds when asleep,Leviathan." I teased him and he just pouted the cutest way. I looked at the other direction and saw Reiner smiling at us. I smiled back.

"You came home early. Do you have somewhere else to go?" He asked me. I shooked my head.

"Historia told me to take the whole day off." He smiled, so was my son.

"Really!? So you can come with me and Papa Reiner to the town hall Mummy!?" Leviathan was excited to know Im free today and I would not like to ruin that smile on his face.

"Of course. But first eat your breakfast and take a bath." I teased my son and he laughs. Reiner picked him up and asked for Rene to clean Leviathan up before we go out. We were both left in the room. I sat in my son's bed and he kneeled in front of me.

"How's Lady Kiyomi's visit?" He asked.

"Doing well. She gave us updates about Marley. Said they have won some war against countries." I answered.

"You look like something's bothering  you. What is that? Did you have any visions already?" He asked me and I shooked my head.

"But there is something that made me worry." He looked at bit focus now.

"I told you about my visions years ago right?" Reiner nodded.

"Lady Kiyomi told us earlier that Marley has a new weapon of their own. Seems likely, a new titan on their side. A strong one who defeated all anti titan bombing fleet in the port." His eyes were shocked with the conclusion he drawn.

"Are you saying-"

"What if that titan is the one Ive been seeing in my visions all along? The one with arms made of blades and could move faster than Annie." While I was feep in my thoughts, I didnt notice that I my hands were already shaking and I felt Reiner's hands trying to stop the pressure in it.

"Hey. Look at me" My gaze went up to level his. He smiled at me reassuringly.

"We have Eren. We have Armin. We have the scouts. We have the walls. And most importantly you. No titan could ever match that."

"Im just a bit frustrated about it-"

"I wont let anything harm you and Leviathan." I held back to his hands and let him engulfed me in a warm embrace, kissing my forehead to make me calm.

"Let's enjoy this day with Leviathan shall we?" I smiled and noddded before hugging him back.

For the past five years, Reiner has been my shield while both of them and Leviathan is my strength. He knew I couldnt reciprocate the affection he gives me but still he stayed and I am grateful for that. Because of him, I was strong for my baby during pregnancy days. He would take care of me, massage my ankles, buy me my cravings and even let me nag at him when mood swings appear.

"Youre spacing out again. Am I that handsome?" He wiggled his brows like a teasing kid. I just laughed and jokingly hit his chest.

"Dream on Blondie!" I ran outside the room to look for Leviathan.

This day is indeed relaxing after all.

The day flew fast as I we went in the town hall. Leviathan bought lots of books and toy swords which I wouldnt approve but Reiner spoiled my son so much.

"Relax, he's still a kid." I just rolled my eyes.

People would greet us as we walk while some offer snacks and I couldnt refuse.

"Did you enjoy today, sweetie?" I asked my son. He was still munching on the snack he asked for while Reiner carries him on his lap as we travel to Trost to visit Dad.

"Very much! Thank you for having time Mummy!" I smiled and kissed his cheek.

"Anything for my baby boy." Then he pouted again which made me and Reiner laugh.

"What about me mummy? Wont I get a kiss?" Reiner mocks Leviathan. I just rolled my eyes and chuckle.

"In your dreams blonde stuff." He laughed and took a bite of his cinnamon roll.

Minutes later we arrived at Dad's. He was delighted to see his grandson so was Rico,Mitabi and Ian. We had to let Leviathan catch up with the three so me and Dad could talk along with Reiner of course.

" A new titan weapon huh? This could be interesting." He said as he sip in his wine. He fancies the one supplied by the marleyan refugees we have here.

Good thing Reiner doesnt drink or else it would be such a troublesome to take care of three children.

"Yeah. Apparently they have just mobilized its power and capability. Meaning it could get stronger once mastered by the shifter." I said. Dad seemed to be bothered too.

"This is a new type of titan. During my days, there were only six of us who were chosen to inherit each titan weapon. This seventh titan is a new comer." Reiner spoke

Seconds later, my father spoke "Just be sure that this fight wont be out of pride,Adelaide." Of course I understand what he meant but-

"General! You're Highness! Captain!" We were alarmed by the scout, from the survey corps who was shouting. Dad let him in.

"What is it soldier?" Reiner spoke. The scout breathed first to regain his air before speaking which made me stunned and nervous.

"Eren Jaeger sent a letter from Marley and it was addressing that he needs help!" My eyes widened.

"E-Eren? What did my cousin ordered?" i asked.

"Retrieve Jaeger and prepare for counter attack in Marley, your highness!"

"She also included you in the mission." my shock was increased.

"What? That's absurd! The princess will be in danger if she goes there-"

"Historia's gotta point Reiner. I need to do this. If we want Eren back we have to draw our cards." I answered. I looked at dad and he just nodded before I looked back at the scout.

"When will we be leaving?" I asked.

"Tomorrow immediately,your highness." I sighed and looked at the window where my son was playing with Dad's apprentices.

"Very well then. Tell the queen I accept the mission."

This is me protecting my family.

This is me protecting my friends.

This is me protecting the future I want for my son.

And this is the future me protecting his memory, our memory.
