ADELAIDE'S
"Have you eaten lunch?" I heard Levi asking me while he helps me clean Mom's grave. I looked at him and shook my head. He nodded.
"I know a place where we could eat if you want." He offered. My face lifted up in delight. Then he scratched his nape.
"But it's not that fancy though-" i didnt wait for his reply when I pulled hand and ran to his horse.
"Im starving!" I said while rubbing my stomach. I heard him chuckling.
Wait. Did he really just chuckled?
"Alright, we'll eat, silly" Then he messes my hair. My cheeks turned to red again.
Did he really just laugh?
At me?
I was about to react when he suddenly lifts me up to ride his horse then he climbed too. I felt his arms on my sides again. I cant help but feel at ease whenever I feel him close to me.
"Do you want to hold him?" He suddenly ask as we were on our way to this place where he said we could eat.
"I might lose control over it." I was hesitant to take the leash. Levi grabbed my hand and make it hold the leash whike holding me.
I swear Im going crazy right now.
"Easy girl, just calm your arms and let the horse run. Pull on the side where you want it to turn." He said. His head was on my shoulder that made me feel that electric bolt again.
Minutes later I noticed that the horse was calming down as I control it. I smiled and was about to look back at Levi but his face was near mine. It lasted for seconds before I cleared my throat. Then he asked me to turn the horse on the eatery besie the military police head quarters.
It was a diners where I could see people eating while laughing their hearts out.
"Good day, Captain!" I heard an old man who looks like the owner of the diner. Levi nodded at him but doesnt smile.
"I see you have someone with you who's not a scout. Thats odd." He added. I looked at Levi.
He doesnt bring anyone here who's not from the scouts?
"This is Lady Ade--" Before he mentions my name, I butted in.
"Im Laide. Nice meeting you Sir." I said. Levi looked at me with confusion but I didnt mind it.
"Such a fine young lady. I havent seen you here perhaps you are a refugee?" He asks politely. I just smiled and nodded.
"We'll have two briskets and a cup of tea-how do you like yours?" Levi suddenly asks me.
"Black with a cube of sugar please." I said. Levi looked at me at awe. The owner of the diner grinned.
"Same as Captain here. Anyways I'll be back with your orders. For now, I had your spot already cleaned up just after I saw your horse outside." The old man left us and Levi showed me where will we sit. The spot was a table with two chairs placed on a big window where we could see from the outside. It's very neat and not a single dust spot was seen.
" So, Milady I hope you like the place. I know it's not that much but-" I smiled at him
"I love it here. Thank you. Y-You can call me Laide. I really get uncomfortable when my name's mentioned with Lady with it." I said. He nodded immediately.
"Captain-" I wasnt able to finish what I was about to say when he butted in.
"It's Levi, baby..." He said. My face couldnt contain the redness of my cheeks.
"L-Levi.."
"Yes Laide?" My name sounded perfect with his voice. I heard my name being called countless times but when he's the one saying it, it feels good.
"Why are you being nice to me?" I asked him. He looked at like he also questions himself why.
" Im just being me around you." He said.
"But you're different when you're with your fellow-"
"It means Im not being me while Im with them. But with you, Laide you make me do things I havent done before." He said. I was surprised.
Why is he telling me these things?
"I never carried someone on my horse before. I never took someone alone in this diner. I never give my coat to anybody...Damn I dont even let anyone hug me." He said. I didnt know what to say.
"Laide...I know you can feel what Im doing towards you. And I can feel how you respond to it." He added.
"Levi..."
"I know I may be out of your age league. Yes Im half your age but if you'll just give me the chance to make you feel how I am whenever Im with you-"
"I feel the same, Levi...Since that night." I said. I didnt know if I saw shock in his eyes. He seemed astowned.
"Laide. Does this mean you're giving me the chance?" He asked. I smiled and nodded.
"But forgive me. Im new to this thing. I never felt anything like this to others before" I told him.
"Me either. How about we figure things out together?" He suggested. I grinned at him while nodding. Then suddenly I remember my father.
"What would I tell Dad if-"
"I'll be the one introducing myself to him-"
"But what will you tell him?" I asked. I dont even know what we are.
"Thats easy. i'll tell him you got me smitten. Thats the truth." He said.
"S-Smitten?" I uttered once again.
"Yeah. I like you, Adelaide." He said straight to me.
"I-I like you too, Levi." I answered him back. And for the second time, I saw Lance Corporal Levi Ackerman. Humanity's strongest soldier, smilling at me.
And it was the most beautiful sight I saw my whole life.
Levi...Levi likes me too.
And I like him even more for liking me back.
