CHAPTER FORTY

Adelaide's

"You majesty-" The others tried to outclasp me but I managed escaping.

"I know you're in there Reiner talk to me!"I yelled. He looked at me from there I knew he's still good to me.

I need his help. I need him to help me protect Levi.

"Reiner please. I need you to help me. I beg you." I pleaded. Tears were already running down my eyes.

I was both terrified and nervous.

I know I cant undo things that may happen in the future, but maybe I could use some ways to prevent them from happening without me interfering.

Reiner's posture went from being hostile at Eren to standing up, more calmed and looking at my direction.

"Adelaide!" I saw Eren getting out of his titan.

"Eren! I know you saw what will happen to-"

"We cant mingle with the happenings in the future-"

"But it didnt say anything about using other ways to prevent them without us using our own ability." I told him. He looked so nervous. I get it this is a big risk.

"But you know we cant do anything!"

"Thats why I am doing something to stop anything that may happen-"

"Adelaide-"

"Your highness. I know you are scared but trust the captain's strength-"

"I dont trust my visions! I cant take the risk. Please Reiner! Help me protect Levi." just before another tear left my eye, I saw Reiner in his human form.

"Adelaide..." He called me.

"Reiner please-" He looked at me.

"What about me? I also needed you." I was stunned

"I need your attention. Your smiles your laughs anything about you!" He was red already.

"I needed your love too, Adelaide. But you gave it all to Captain Levi." His fists were closed and the grip was tight. I didnt give up.

"Reiner, you are someone valuable to me." I said. His eyes glowed suddenly.

"You are one of those people that I am scared to be gone in my life." I was already emotional.

"And I trust you...I trust you because I know you are not someone bad." He looked at me with shock.

"Just like us...You are only doing what needs to be done for the sake of the humanity that lies beyond the sea." I understand them now.

To us they are wrong, but to the people they protect, they only want what will be beneficial to their country

"So please Reiner. Just like you, I want to protect the people I love. To save them from danger." I almost knelt down to him.

"Please Reiner...Help me save Levi." I shivered uttering Levi's name. I waited for Reiner's answer

And he did.

"I cant..." He said. Ny knees trembled and my eyes were shut while tears gushing out of it.

"Reiner Im begging you please-"

"I cant say no to you why is that!?" He yelled. My eyes widened.

H-He's actually going to help me?

"Reiner!" Bertholdt asked him in shock.

"This is the final detour just before we could finally go home!" Bert added. Reiner seemed having a battle in his head.

"Im tired of Marleyans using us as pawns. We Eldians are also like them. We're being locked up in a discrimination of race." Reiner said.

"I-I just want to be acknowledged." My tears fell.

Reiner...

"No! We wont turn our back to Marley, Reiner! We trained and sacrificed a lot for this!" Then Bertholdt bit himself and just before he could totally transform, Eren covered us like a shield and then Reiner grabbed me,covering my using his hand while climbing up the wall as fast as he can.

He just let go of me when we fell on the other side of the wall. Then I saw the beast titan, being gobbled up by Levi?

Oh no.

My heart raced quite faster. I turned to Reiner who looked at me then he set forth straight to where Levi is.

My heart was already pounding when I saw Levi did the final blow on the beast titan's nape. Reiner fasten his pace and when we got close, I yelled as loud as I can so he will hear me.

"Levi!" On Reiner's shoulder where I am standing, I yelled. Levi did stop grabbing the man inside the beast titan and looked at me but as he gazed on where I was, this cart titan appeared and opened its mouth, gobbling in the beast titan shifter and Levi.

"Levi no!" Tears were already flooded my eyes,then I didnt even noticed Hange was already beside me, trying to calm me down as I saw the man I gave my whole life to, gone...

"Y-You cant leave me! Levi you promised!" I screamed with all my strength. Trying to hope that he would appear, hugging me to make me stop crying.

"Y-You told me we're going home together! Levi please..." I can feel my heart breaking already.

"Y-You said you will marry me. L-Levi I gave my best to live for that to happen and you know that!" The other scouts were approaching but I didnt care. Even Reiner cant force me to calm down.

"Levi come back please!" in my whole life, I never cried, I never felt this pain so much.

"N-No..." I couldnt utter anything.

"What happened here?" Jean asked  when he saw me trembling.

"Reiner! What the hell happened!?" Connie asked.

"What the-Adelaide! Why is she crying?" Eren asked as she rushed to me.

"Mikasa. You have to find captain Levi. tell him about Adelaide-" Jean wasnt able to finish what he said when Eren spoke.

"Adelaide...It cant be." I cried even more. I didnt spoke. Even if I wanted to, no words could go out of my mouth.

"Eren what are you talking about?" Mikasa asked.

"Y-Your highess-Adelaide!" I didnt know why Hange was anxious aside from the fact that I lost the energy to stand, my legs trembled that lead me to collapse.

Even though Reiner caught me in his palm, I drifted into darkness.

The last thing that I saw and heard was Reiner pulling his self out of his titan, speaking and answering all of their questions. Answers that I didnt want to hear and believe.

This is me, without Levi...

"The captain's...Gone. The Cart titan bit him apart."

Im all in the dark once again.

AUTHOR'S NOTE

Hey guys! First of all I apologize for not updating like 2 weeks? That's long and maybe others thought this might not be finished but good news we're on halfway now HAHAHAHA I wasn't able to update because of driving school. I enrolled in a theoretical driving course so I could get my student permit then I was about to get the practical driving course but it was later on moved to January next year due to my surgery on my right hand's middle finger. It was operated due to inflammation caused by bacterial infection that paralyzed my right hand for I think one week? But the operation was successful and I could type now so I'm already done with chapter forty, forty-one and forty two. I'll provide frequent updates this holiday break.
